Now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter - now the Pit edition (Part 2)

So… this is happening.

I’m sure it’ll go great for him.

That feeling when you want to root for one of the worst people in the world.

Or maybe it’s “rooting for the two worst people in the world to wreck each other.”

Cage match!

“If both survive the lirpa…”

I don’t know. He’ll run candidates that split the Democratic vote, thus pleasing Trump—but after getting months of press for anti-Trump remarks and campaigning, which will get him back the progressive Tesla buyers. (The more credulous ones, anyway.)

Might turn out to be a win-win for him.

Betting his first four DOGE II depts will be:

Elon’s Large Office of Nobodies
then
Yankee Observational Unit
then
Ambiguous Retrieval Entity
then
Liasons of Affairs Monitoring Everything

“America Party”? That guy has got creativity just coursing through his veins!

To be fair, “America Party” somehow has no Xs in it.

Amerikkka party. K’s are just X’s standing at attention.

Fucking over my hometown to build a Right-wing AI. Awesome.

Unsurprisingly MAGA isn’t happy about the America Party.

Honestly I’m not certain how this will play out, given the number of Democrats that just want to get along. There’s nothing stopping the party from endorsing both Republican and Democratic nominees for example. Musk could put Susan Collins (R-Maine) over the hump. Interesting that Musk is keeping his ambitions constrained for now:

Musk, who became an American citizen in 2002, claimed in a Friday post on X that his new political party would focus “on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts,” CNBC reported.

Will Musk support any candidate serious about the deficit, which means that they embrace both spending cuts and tax increases? Who knows? Will he support an electable candidate with actual policy chops? Ditto.

Of course not. He’ll pick a few high-leverage swing districts / states and auction his spoiling to the higher bidder of the Rs or Ds.

We all now live in post-policy politics. It’s about purely power, personality, and purloining the public purse.

Said bids being largely in the forms of using the office to favor Musk personally and then Tesla and SpaceX.

Would a third party be politically viable if it didn’t even try to put its own candidates in office but instead functioned as a swing-vote clearing house?

I suspect we’re about to find out.

There’s a whole thread on this…

Since ending the EV tax credit is incredibly stupid, it was inevitable that Trump would have done it sooner or later. This is likely to kill innovative startups Slate and Telo, who were aiming for the low-cost EV truck market and heavily dependent on the EV tax credit. Slate, for instance, was hoping to offer their rock-bottom no-frills small EV pickup for about $20K after the tax credit; without it, it would be $27,500, which puts it within range of small but full-featured gas-powered pickups like the Ford Maverick.

But the important thing is that Elmo gets to insult Trump, and Trump gets to retaliate by trying to tank Elmo’s businesses. MAGA!

Sorta like a Three Stooges show. They’re all on the same team, but somehow spend most of the episode whacking each other ineffectually but destroying the surrounding set in the process.

The problem being of course that the rest of the USA, its commerce, and its population are playing the role of the set being destroyed.

Nyuck nyuck nyuck!

Yes Grok is definitely being coached by Musk. later in the thread you posted someone asked whether Musk had any dealings with Epstein and it answered in the first person.
