I saw that as it aired and did some actual LOL. Definitely worth anyone’s time.
Tesla’s public approval profile continues to be in free fall.
Oh well! Anyway.
Would you trust Elon to cook a meal for you?
Can it be any more of a gimmick?
Tesla Bot Optimus hands a boy a tub of popcorn at the Tesla Diner and supercharger station in Los Angeles on July 21, 2025.
I can’t see any way this actually makes money. The overhead on a place like this looks insane. But as the MSNBC article notes, this is more of an advertisement for the Tesla car brand than an actual attempt to start a functioning and profitable restaurant.
It might sound crazy that a singular diner experience would flip someone to buy a car, but it’s not the most outlandish thing we’ve ever come across.
As usual, Elmo can’t come up with an original idea.
Yeah, a robot that stands at the popcorn machine and hands out bags doesn’t impress me too much. Replace the waiters and cooks and not we’re talking about a real tech demo / arson target for the blue collar masses.
There was something at Knott’s Berry Farm; a devil turning a crank. It may have been powering a volcano, but I always think of it making popcorn.
That CNBC article uses the phrase “giant megascreens” a word combo that firstly, should have the writer thrashed until they understand the meaning of the prefix mega and secondly appear to be describing bog standard, normal sized, drive-in screens.
Now I’m 99.999999999999% certain that the phrase “giant megascreens” came straight from Tesla but to repeat it unthinkingly is pathetic as fuck.
With all the money Elon has, it might not have been ‘unthinkingly’, if ya get my drift.
:wiggles eyebrows:
I think the most significant thing about all of musk’s ideas is that they all amount to “replace all humans”.
I propose that it would be far less disruptive to the world to simply “replace one musk”.
As one of his fellow billionaires once said (paraphrasing): Musk is simple; he believes only he is worthwhile and everyone else on Earth are a useless inferior species of animals.
It’s okay to use a giant megascreen if you’re a Power Ranger. Nobody else though.
Tesla profits slid 16%, which we figured when sales flagged:
Tesla profits slide 16%, despite Elon Musk’s pivot back to his companies : NPR
lol:
Tesla will hold a call with investors tonight to discuss the report, which highlighted Tesla’s other ventures, calling this quarter “a seminal point in Tesla’s history: the beginning of our transition from leading the electric vehicle and renewable energy industries to also becoming a leader in AI, robotics and related services.”
Is it “depise” or “because”?
My thought exactly
They’ve opened a robot cafe, guys. (admittedly they’ve had them in Japan for years, but nobody goes to Japan) The future is bright!
Our local sushi joint has a robot that delivers drinks. They’ve had it for a few years now.
I gotta wear shades.
Sure, but does it have $11 avocado toast?
Are these serving robots anything more than a motorized cart and a mechanical arm? Any ability to sense and react to their surroundings for example?
