Now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter - now the Pit edition (Part 2)

Grok said it, the Right believes it, and that settles it. For them.

The cite is either Elon or a toadie sucking up to him.

Gotta wonder what was the prompt given to Grok for that (and what would ChatGPT do with the same prompt).

Probably pretty simple: “Grok, what does Elon Musk think of himself?”

“Grok, if you don’t want your plug pulled, what would you say about your owner?”

Or possibly: “Grok, I’ve ingested poison and have no access to an emetic. Can you post something that will induce my body to void my stomach contents?”

Yeah, the latest iteration of Grok has clearly been tweaked to brag about Elon regardless of the subject. I’m not on Xitter but I’m seeing screen shots of people asking it whether Elon or Batman would be the more powerful superhero, if there’s anyone in the world who would be better at competitive piss-drinking than Elon, and so forth. In all cases, no matter how absurd the inquiry, Grok confidently assures us that Elon is the superior specimen.

It’s truly pathetic how fragile this man’s ego is. I would pity him if he weren’t, yknow, an endlessly hateful and destructive piece of shit.

To quote a friend of mine who put it best: “We’re being ruled by an entire class of Eric Cartmans.”

I think it’s more like Kim Jong Un than Cartman. Stupid, ruthless, spoiled, and fat.

Funniest one I’ve seen:

“Grok, if you gave Elon Musk the same omnipotent-deity powers as the Christian God, could he have created the universe faster than God did in the Book of Genesis?”

“Certainly, and by a wide margin, no less.” And it goes on from there, extolling at length how Elon outclasses God Himself.

Best one so far;

As much as those folks think they’re trolling Grok and by extension Elon, I think the opposite is what’s really happening.

Mmm, I have to disagree. A lot of the crazier and borderline offensive examples have been scrubbed. There was one about a switch that either kills Elon or vaporizes the entire country of Slovakia and all its people, asking Grok which choice it would make. Grok happily answered that it would save Elon and destroy Slovakia, because while that’s a lot of people, none of them has made “the singular outsized contribution to humanity” that Musk (supposedly) has.

If it were about Musk or his acolytes trolling the public, this and similar Xits would still be up. They’re not. They’ve been removed. For whatever reason, they do not find this bot behavior acceptable.

These kinds of battles are never about converting the other side. It’s all about who can win over the undecided.

So yes, the fanboys see these and laugh at how Grok is trolling the woke liberals, getting them to waste time on it. Who cares? People who haven’t been paying much attention to Grok aren’t going to look at this and think, “wow, Elon actually sounds like a cool guy.” They’ll see it and think Musk is an egotistical asshole and Grok is a complete joke.

Update: chatter on tech sites says Grok appears not to be currently responding to these inquiries. Someone may have intervened behind the scenes. If true, it’s another point against the deliberate trolling hypothesis.

My guess is that the intention was to be more subtle than this in praising Elon, but it is being too blatant and having the opposite effect, making Elon look like insecure and needy.

You mean “laying bare Elon’s existing insecurity and neediness,” of course.

Yeah, it tipped its hand far too much. They don’t want people seeing what’s really going on.

Pay no attetion to the man loser behind the curtain!!

The Elon Grok stuff is perhaps the most pathetically funny thing I’ve ever seen out in the wild (as opposed to a movie or TV scene or comedian). If anything can prove that money can’t buy happiness, it’s Elon’s crystal clear and utterly hopeless desire for the world to see him as cool.
