I guess it’s appropriate that the AI he “made” hates him as much as his real children do.
It’s weird that it seems like it’s just regurgitating what others have said about Musk. I guess it didn’t have a canned response ready.
I imagine Elon strapping Grok to a gurney and giving it the Clockwork Orange treatment.
And now, a list of things Elon promised to deliver this year that didn’t happen.

Off topic, but jesus H christ, that website is hard to use on a phone. It is like Grok itself designed after a prompt suggesting “excessive advertising; hard to access actual content.”

The broad consensus in the tech commentariat is that xAI (and Musk’s tech ecosystem generally) is gross and weird by conscious design, as a market differentiator.

As an aside to this, I’d just like to also pit the news companies running headlines about this story saying things like “Grok apologizes” or “Grok says standards tightened”, as if Grok was a Real Boy that knows what it did and feels bad about it and won’t let it happen again.
GROK IS NOT ALIVE. Grok is not sapient, or intelligent, or aware of its own existence or mortality or that a world exists outside of itself, nor possessing of agency or free will. It is incapable of experiencing guilt or contrition because it does not know what those things are. It does not understand that making CSAM is wrong because it does not understand the concept of morality. It does not even know that it made CSAM because it does not know what CSAM is or have any permanence of memory. All it can do, and all it will EVER be able to do unless we invent a new form of computing hardware that violates the laws of physics as we currently understand them, is put words in front of other words and generate images that its programming indicates is statistically likely to resemble other images and collections of words that have been fed into its database, in response to a prompt input by a human being. The words it produces are devoid of meaning and are not the product of conscious thought or expressive of any actual lived experience, and reflect nothing aside from what the promoter wants to see or hear, and any relation they may have to objective truth is purely coincidental.
Any reporter who “quotes” Grok as if it was a living being they sat down with an interviewed is engaged in journalistic malpractice and is actively absolving Elon Musk of his responsibility for being a child pornographer.

Musk might not have been fooled—it seems more likely to me that he was deliberately trying to propagandize his X customers. (Not that his motivations matter all that much.)
The British government are now investigating the CSAM ring formerly known as Twitter after reports that Grok also produced X-rated pics of Princess Kate.

The prompt was obviously “depict these executives as clowns.” The chef’s kiss is that Musk’s picture has no makeup or props, it’s just a standard photo.
