Probably more like 9 years old, found that term somewhere and thinks it’s really cool to insult people with a special insult nobody else knows.
Okay, having a couple of days to cool down and sober up, and I came off way too strong in my initial post there. I’m sorry.
That being said, I stand by my point. Musk is undergoing a self-inflicted fall from grace of a magnitude heretofore unseen. There’s plenty of actual substance there to mock him with. To watch this thread fall to the level of some weird in-club of fragile masculinity and bravado is extremely disappointing.
The excuses and rationale being bandied about here (“we’ve been doing for a while now”, “some other guys started it”, “Elmo the puppet is actually pretty cool so it’s not really an insult”) are not impressive. You’ve got nothing to stand on, aside from pointing out what an asshole I am.
Anyway, I’ll withdraw and y’all can keep on keeping on.
And you’re still completely, totally and quite stupidly wrong.
You’ve had your ass handed to you repeatedly in this “debate” and your conclusion was that your TONE was off?
They weren’t wrong about that.
That wasn’t all they were wrong about, but they were also wrong about tone. Except that tone was actually pretty appropriate for The Pit, so maybe they weren’t wrong about that, just everything else.
We apologize if the quality of our mockery does not meet your standards, honorable sir.
Gee, I just hope the 48 billion compensation package he got from Tesla in June helps him feel better about himself.
It’s weird how that’s an obscene amount of money but at the same time I suspect it’s meaningless to Elmo.
The real win is feeding his ego by browbeating the board and defeating his opponents in court. Beyond that, he can already afford anything his gross tastes desire.
Got a new nickname for y’all:

Just repeating: Muskl doesn’t believe the conspiracy theories and fake facts he posts; it’s just an effort to pump viewership on Twitter.
NBC: Musk, “boosted content from creators and accounts tied to Tenet Media at least 60 times.” Tenet Media was the Russian front organization cutting checks to sympathetic influencers. Reports that the US Department of Justice indicted Tenet surfaced earlier this month.
Josephine Lukito, scholar of Russian disinformation at the University of Texas at Austin’s journalism school:
“As the owner of a social media platform, Musk certainly should be vetting content he shares more. But it doesn’t surprise me that he is not apologetic about this, as Musk has, in the past, shared misleading or inaccurate information without, seemingly, any concern,” Lukito said in an email. (Musk has shared misleading claims about anti-Muslim riots in the U.K. and inaccurate information about voting, for example.)
The SEC is asking a judge to sanction Elmo for blowing off a court-ordered deposition.
Cards Against Humanity is suing Melon Husk for $15 million for illegal dumping at one of the card game’s properties in Texas.

Elmo is now complying with the judge’s orders in Brazil.
Musk wants to modify twitter’s block rules.
X will now make your posts visible to users you’ve blocked. In a reply on Monday, X owner Elon Musk said the “block function will block that account from engaging with, but not block seeing, public post.”
Currently, X displays a “You’re blocked” message when trying to view the profile of a person who’s blocked you. In addition to blocking all posts, it also prevents you from seeing their replies, media, followers, and following list.
This… is bad.
Remember that he sees everything and makes all his decisions from the perspective of his own experience as a user on the platform.
So if he blocks you because you’re calling him on his bullshit, he wants to still be able to push that bullshit at you.
So he’s moving to the style of blocking we have here on the SDMB?
Deleted – I misunderstood what Elmo was on about.
Isn’t this how the Dope works? You can still see my posts even if I block you, its just I can’t see yours.
Isn’t that what the Mute function did? You didn’t see any content from that person but they could still read your posts.
Yes, exactly. We will now have two ways to mute if this actually happens! Such an improvement!
