Elmo designed this himself, didn’t he?

Government Price Controls on Food” so, are they OK with the price of eggs or aren’t they?

I’m pretty sure that the audience they are courting think that government price controls make things more expensive.

Maybe they’re worry about the poor egg producers’ profit margins. Worrying about the unrealized capital gains tax - which only applies to people worth over $100M - does indicate sympathy for the wealthy.

They can if done incorrectly; as usual economic issues are complicated and difficult for the average person to understand.

Price Controls: Types, Examples, Pros & Cons

If you set the price of goods too low, that can lead to retailers not wanting to stock those items, so you then have a shortage. And the only way for some people to get those items is through black market sources that will price gouge.

Now, that’s only going to happen if the government really fucks up and does it wrong so it’s not a rational argument against doing them. It’s just a reminder that it’s not some kind of perfect panacea.

In before: A Republican complains about the price of ham panacea.

They should bring back those sit-down restaurants from the 80s where you could get a fresh Personal Panacea. I bet Musk could order that done as Secretary of Keepin’ it Real, and since it comes from the Republicans it would totes not be a command economy.

What an absolute fucking dork.

That’s pretty sad. Trump obviously gives zero shits about Musk aside from using him for votes and Elon is like a little puppy thrilled to just be getting some attention.

Meanwhile, Elmo’s mommy is encouraging people to commit voter fraud for Orange Jesus.

At least she’s encouraging it in the dumbest and least effective way possible.

They do. If Kamala Harris is elected, you’ll have to buy your eggs in a back alley from a sleazy-looking guy wearing a trenchcoat who lays them himself.

What seems most important – and dangerous – to me in all this is that drumpf and Leon have devised a fairly innovative method of channeling influence in a way that skirts even our own woeful campaign financing laws.

Though I guess the road was previously paved by the Murdoch gang.

In what alternate reality is she living in?

The one promoted by all the RW propaganda outlets. A sizeable fraction of the country totally believes that garbage. Because every media outlet they pay attention to has been spouting it for months and years. Anything that unanimous must be true, amiright?

Xwixxex has lost about three-quarters of its net worth in two years. In '22, it was valued at around $44B – now it is estimated to be around $9B, a loss of some $35B.

I wonder how much of that loss is directly due to Musk’s hand in enhancing RW messaging and conspiracy theories, along with his stupid ideas on how to monetize the site. It seems like Xitter itself is pretty much functional at the same level it was before he took over. Even though he got a lot of heat for massively cutting of staff, it doesn’t seem to have impacted the functionality of the site all that much. But then he used the platform to xweet a bunch of RW garbage and did stuff like changed how the validation works. It’s attracting a bunch of conspiracy nuts and spammers can have their scams promoted more easily. If he had just cut the staff and not done anything else, I wonder what the valuation would be. It’d likely still be less, but probably not down by $35B.

Twitter Spaces live gatherings were failing back in 2023 due specifically to poor staffing and now in 2024 are still not working any better.

The social media spaces are ever changing. And often change at a fairly rapid pace. People move on to “the next big thing”. It’s important for any social media tech company to keep up with trends, to innovate and to change with the times.

This takes staff. A skeleton staff can hold a product together with string and bits of gum… for a time. XShitter will continue for a while out of sheer momentum, but if it does not keep up with innovation, it will eventually cease to be relevant. And without dedicated staff, this will be it’s fate.
