Now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter - now the Pit edition (Part 2)

It is pathetic how they twist things around. I have decided to ( finally) leave X.

Elon became a “free speech absolutist” after he started being oppressed by the SEC; after numerous irresponsible tweets about taking Tesla private and similar nonsense, they required he submit to his tweets being vetted by legal. It seems like very mild censorship focused solely on posts impacting Tesla specifically, but it does indicate that a CEO could be sued by shareholders or censured by the Board of Directors or the SEC for lasting damage to their market cap. It doesn’t come up because most CEOs aren’t, well, crazy and Elon is surrounded by sycophants.

The other issue, occasionally complained about by economists, is large institutional investors. They’ve been complaining that the largest companies are controlled by Vanguard, Fidelity, Blackrock, or big government pensions. Once your company is a big chunk of the S&P500, they leverage all the shares they control for a seat on the board so they can prevent, well, Elon-like antics. I don’t get why this mag 7 stock hasn’t gotten someone booted so they can have a spot; their investors must have tons of shares. This is actually what the Delaware court is looking for - someone on the board that actually gives a damn about their investment.

Cool - whole municipal districts, now, are f.o.'ing from X. Is this a first? Had to cross-post this in Canadoper Cafe thread.

:laughing:Oh, Surrey!

That should help Surrey with the fringe of right wingers.

Can’t top that

Annnnnnd, now I have that song stuck in my head.

It looks like Elmo finally found the ADL’s breaking point.

A Milwaukee meteorologist has lost her job after calling out Melon Husk’s Nazi salute on her Instagram.

With conservatives rushing to Musk’s defense, a local right-wing radio host – who has regularly complained about left-wing “cancel culture” – soon took issue with Kuffel’s posts and blasted her on X, making sure to tag her employer.

It’s only cancel culture when Nazi’s lose their jobs.

It’s not their breaking point until they leave that shithole.

Firefighters go where the fire is.

The ADL are still full of shit. Their response talks about trivialising the Holocaust but they are ignoring the 10s of millions who died because of Nazi aggression. It is offensive to make light of the Nazis for all the harm they caused, all of the evil they did. Not just part of it.

It’s only cancel culture if it comes from the Cancél region of France. Otherwise it’s just sparkling censorship.

I’ve posted this in various forms in several of these threads over the years.

As Dirty Harry almost said:

Nothin’ wrong with cancellin’. ’ Long as the right people get cancelled.

Did he really just re-xit a tweet about the evils of “globalism”? I don’t want to go there to find out, yet even the worst people occasionally have fake news spread about them.

if he did, then that’s another piece of evidence that he’s a full on Nazi. With the salute and all, he already got to the point where I can call him that without reservations, considering his past re-xits of white supremacy theories. But if he’s also an anti-“globalist”, then it rises to the “come on, seriously now” territory of undeniability.

The opposite of “globalism” is “nationalism”. I seem to remember a group of people who were nationalist about social matters. Dammit, I can’t remember who they were though.

Didn’t they have “national socialism” in their name? Darn, it’s on the tip of my tongue but I’m just no coming up with it.

Elon sowing: Hell yeah this is awesome
Elon reaping: This sucks what the hell

It’s stagnant because you’re a piece of shit who killed it through a combination of incompetence and malignancy.

That would simply be stupid and counter-productive. Teslas were being sold long before Musk went fully off the rails in public and a shit ton of liberal Trump-haters (and even Musk-haters these days) own one. Speaking as a proud (well, actually utterly indifferent) owner of a Mazda, I think that kind of purity test is beyond silly.
