Now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter - now the Pit edition

Fine and I conceded that no-one living in SF could possibly live on 30K, but this fact (which you helpfully pointed out ) utterly eviscerated your larger argument (which you probably forgot about since you aren’t actually here to actually make any concrete arguments but only to nitpick other posters as this is the only way you can achieve any semblance of self esteem in an otherwise wasted life devoid of meaning).

Recall that the original argument you were making was that everyone at twitter should have 6 months of rent in reserve and that those who don’t and suffer hardship because some billionaire thinks they are worthless scum, should be mocked and ridiculed because they deserve it being that they are indeed scum. SF’s cost of living is about twice that of the rest of the country. Are you really so far removed from your fellow man that you revel in the fact that someone earning the equivalent of $24K a year might not have a strong cushion to fall back on?

Perhaps they should have a 12-month cushion, then.

Are you seriously that clueless, about the personal economics of the working poor? or are just being a dick?

Jesus Fucking Christ. It’s like a whole gaggle of bystanders were just waiting in the dugout to rush the mound as soon as this moved to the pit.

I agree we do need a Musk Pit thread though, but if it’s dominated by D’Anconia’s boring contrarianism then what a waste.

Sorry, I’ll stop poking the troll, but I did find it ironic that as part of his argument that no one at twitter should have difficulty making ends meet he brought up the high cost of living in SF.

Sort of like a defense attorney that is so focused on disputing the veracity of the prosecutions witnesses that he argues that his the witness couldn’t possibly have seen his client leaving the property at midnight since he was in the back yard burying the body until at least 2AM.

Exactly the point I wanted to make. My checking account has minimal funds in it. Funds get moved in or moved out to intentionally keep it that way. Automatic withdrawals never get bounced because my monthly deposits don’t come from any of Elon Musk’s organizations.

You can tell we’re in the Pit because @D_Anconia is running wild, shitting all over everything.

It should be fine if the landlords aren’t paid on time. I mean, the landlords have a six-month cushion, right?

Wondered why this thread had 71 new posts, figured that some dipshit was making a dipshitty point, wow, what a surprise.

D? Fuck off!

Your middle-class understanding of finance and cash flows is cute. I’m sure the authors of Rich Dad, Poor Dad will be pleased with your repetitive droning of their “6 months” mantra, however, the varieties and structures of true wealth in America lies beyond your ken.

His argument about how much money these guys make doesn’t take into consideration that it’s pre-tax and doesn’t he agree that THE GOVERNMENT TAKES 99.9% of your income if you live in LEFTY CALIFORNIA?

Jeez oh Pete D, use your brain muscle!

The new taxes are cray-cray!

2% for funding Antifa (the “Soros Subsidy”)
A 6% CRT implementation tax
A 14% tax on all conservatives
The 3% tax added by the “Women Over Keening Elites” (WOKE) act.
2% tax to support local drag shows

… but, no, he’d rather talk Robert Kiyosaki for some reason.

You forgot the tax on not wearing puffy directing pants and the $10,000 leaving town tax.

Ahhh. Since puffy directing pants are my go-to for both casual and evening dress, I didn’t even pay attention to that one.

In San Francisco, surely they have a twelve-month cushion.

As everyone has been talking about Twitter, Tesla, and Space-X, you forgot about the Boring Company! Remember the Boring Company? Hello?

Well, here’s your update:

I’ve been using Twitter (I mostly just read it) and I haven’t seen any actual changes so far. Fewer M&M ads, I guess? Seems stable and I’m not getting porn and fascism in my feed.

Have people experienced crashes or other bad stuff yet? Is it like Wile E. Coyote, running off a cliff and doing fine until he looks down?

Well, there’s the fact that the Chinese government has been spamming Twitter for days now with apparently no response from anyone who’s still employed.

I guess I have my Twitter feed locked down well enough or something. Sadly(?), I haven’t been the recipient of Chinese pornographic spam there.

In case you don’t follow every thread on this board… I’ve created a new breaking news thread in MPSIMS, for those who mostly want to follow what’s happening with Twitter. Strong opinions should stay in this thread, but news and experiences can go here:
