Now That "Virtual"Child Pornography is Legal...

It’s been several months since the SCOTUS overturned the ban on “Virtual” child pornography. What I wanna know is, is the Web now chock full of sites offering this stuff (and I’m NOT looking for links, thankyouverymuch). In other words, has this SCOTUS decision led to a huge boon to the “virtual” CP industry?

I haven’t noticed anything. But then again, I’ve never gone looking for kiddie porn, real or simulated.

Not specially, that I have noticed, in the illustration mainstream. But then again, CP is something you have to actively look for.

There is one important detail at work here – among the many excuses the Justice Department gives for seeking a ban on anything that remotely resembles what may possibly be suggested to be minors involved in something apparently sexual, is that technology may one day be such that it’s impossible to prove if what you’re looking at are pics of real children doing porn, heavily “Photoshopped” pictures made with real children moved around in such a way to simulate porn, or a purely computer-generated image that was never anything but code, but is totally undistinguishable from real pictures. This has resulted in a perception that this already exists. Problem is, as far as I can tell, anything like that is not available outside of Major Motion Picture/CG Production Houses. (and legally, it’s the DA’s *&^%$# JOB to prove a crime was committed, it’s supposed to be hard work!)

At most, what I’ve seen in the various graphics/illo boards and forums are clumsy things like Poser 3D models in which one of the characters is designed very big, and the other very small – but so blocky and fake it’s obviously nothing but pieces pulled from unrelated templates; and some hentai (porn) anime-manga where the characters that look a certain age are finally identified as being of that certain age. No need to say though that the characters in most Lolicon manga, and the physical feats they are capable of at their apparent ages, are quite UNrealistic.

Heck, one sad thing to consider is that even if the image processing systems necessary to produce the kind of true-to-life, photographically perfect “Virtual CP” that the Justice Department fears were around, the real pervos will still find it cheaper (and a whole lot more kicks, due to the danger!) to get a camcorder and exploit a real child than spend big money on that much hardware and software.

Just because I don’t like something, doesn’t mean you can’t do it. That seems to be a hard concept for some (many) people.
I just heard about another attempt to have cartain words banned from television and radio. Sin is not crime.
Peace,
