Now that's a hell of a vet bill

Hey CrazyCatLady, it says that they did try chemo, but that it wasn’t giving results and the dog’s health was detereorating.

They were going to spend the money on a kitchen. If it was up to me, I’d gladly take a pet I loved and who loved me back over a remodeled kitchen. I honestly don’t even see why the fact that they chose their dog over remodeling their kitchen is somehow considered noble, a kitchen is just wood and plastic designed to impress the joneses, a dog is a companion.

What was the story about the man who got an inflated vet bill? He took his dog into the vet and a few minutes later, the vet comes out and tells him, “Sorry, your dog is dead.” The owner says, “That can’t be I want proof.”

The vet goes out and comes back with one of the office cats in his arms. He sets the cat down by the dog’s carcass. The cat sniffs the dog from nose to tail, then shakes its head and starts making scratching motions like it’s digging in a sandbox. The vet picks him him, walks out of the room and comes back with a Labrador Retriever on a leash. He boosts the retriever up on the table, the retriever sniffs the dog’s carcass from nose to tail, then shakes his head and starts humping the carcass. The vet grabs him and takes him out of the room, then comes back and tells the owner that his dog is definitely dead and hands him a bill for $1050.

The owner goes ape. “What the hell is all of this about?”

The vet replies, “50 bucks for the office calls. 500 bucks for the lab tests that showed your dog was really screwed up. 500 bucks for the cat scan that showed he needed to be buried.”

<end hijack>

I love my cat and dog very much. They are definitely a part of the family. I think I would spend as much as I could afford to save them if they needed some kind of procedure. Of course, I don’t have 45K, but I’d do what I could. Those animals have been good to our family.

There must be some form of legislation that we can pass to enable the wealthy to adopt homeless children as housepets.
