I shall record the request and not stick my neck out, lest I leave anyone hanging by not providing details to the dialogue. I auto look it up though, just so I can have the facts in my head. Still, I think that the fictional suicide and this one would be quick and less disturbing to the subject by being throttled by the rope after simply stepping off of a chair.
Nice. Between the two of them they couldn’t come up with a way to off themselves that didn’t involve ruining someone else’s life? Another great example of Christianity.
I dunno how people who deal with crap like that every day cope. I’d be a catatonic drooling zombie after the 4th or 5th one…

Ha. When I saw the thread title I though this might be a chance for me tell the story of a Darwin, Australia man who tied a rope around a tree, then his neck and floored his car.

Did the town give him an award?
Clearly, this person felt the word discombobulated needed another meaning.
If I’m gonna off myself I’m definitely putting on a show, bystanders feelings be damned.
Seriously. I mean otherwise, what’s the point of doing something who’s only true rationale is “this’ll show 'em”?
It’s one thing to do it in front of someone (which I don’t condone). It’s another to get them involved. Beyond that, this was a pastor and his wife. I guess he never got to the “Do unto others” part?
My favorite line: I don’t think I can be your friend anymore.
Purely anecdotal, but two of the police officers I have worked with claim to have dealt with a suicide of this nature during their careers. So perhaps not ‘very common’, but certainly not unheard of.
