Yes?
Need a hand with that cross with a duck?
That is impressive! I especially like the first picture, with the clouds rolling over it.
On the other hand, I agree with Robot Arm that those new-style bridges don’t look good. Suspension bridges like Golden gate (or Lions Gate Bridge locally - it also has fog sometimes) are nice, but I like the iron arched ones. One of my favourites is the Patullo Bridge here in the Vancouver area. The ironwork in the lower left is part of a railway bridge, and the shadow near the left end of the arch is from the Skytrain bridge next to it. Click the “Previous” button for a wider view, or “Next” for a couple of shots of Skytrain.
It’s only a model.
Just looking at that thing terrifies me. It’s gorgeous, but I’m definitely glad I don’t do much driving in France. shudder
Sir Norman Foster? I sure hope it doesn’t wobble like his Millenium bridge did.
Pfftt, it only did that when people walked on it.
Very cool bridge.
And it cost the taxpayers zero $. Totally privately constructed.
I get annoyed about the criticism over that bridge. OK, they got it wrong - but that was because they were making a bridge in a way that had never been done before. And it identified sideways osciallation as an issue in a way that had never been appreciated before - a phenomenon subsequently identified on a smaller (but not necessarily non-serious) level in many other bridges.
Oh, and BTW, I still say phoooooey to everyone, because we’ve got an antique Foster 'round these parts. But hey, what’s 30 years?
Ooh, nice bridge. I don’t think the design is exceedingly beautiful, but it’s more aesthetically pleasing than most bridges I’ve seen, and plus, it’s so TALL!
Of course, my dark side wonders when the first person will jump off of it. I mean, you might as well go out in style, right?
I was going to start a thread about this bridge but I was too late.
For those that wanted to buy prints, the official website has a “Souvenirs” section, but it’s still, erm, “under construction”. Keep an eye on it though - they might have prints for sale soon.
The first time a German manufactured truck goes over it, the bridge will surrender.
Bridge fanatic.
Must. Go. To. France…
Stunningly beautiful… and at the same time screaming “Target!” Not a nice thought and it’ll be crushing should it ever become one.
Wow, all that experience building shit for Saddam has finally paid off.
In a way that the Brooklyn Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge or Tower Bridge don’t?
