Now THIS is an example of where anti abortionists actually just hate women.

I am semi pro-life in that I don’t think a woman’s right to choose is inviolate after the first trimester and should be severely truncated in the third trimester. Sometimes people accuse me of hating women. THESE guys hate women:

So to the 200+ congressmen who voted for this, fuck you.

The federal gfovernment pays for or subsidizes all medical residencies in the country and if we won’t pay for it, it won’t get taught, some women will die because they will not have access to medically necessary abortions.

For all the talk about health care should be between you and your doctor talk by the tea partiers when it comes to health care reform, they have absolutely no concern for the legitimate health care concerns of pregnant women.

I don’t see how a principled person can support this sort of thing.

I don’t think the bill is indication they hate women. I think the people behind the bill hate the notion of people making their own decisions in life, and the rest of them are just the typical scummy politicians who will do anything to keep their jobs.

This. They don’t hate women, they’re just indifferent to the pain and death this bill could cause if it actually became law. The House GOP aren’t misogynists - they’re sociopaths.

Look, if sluts would just keep their legs closed it wouldn’t be an issue now would it?

Eh. This is no different than not using federal funds to perform abortions. If you’re pro-life, why would you want to expend federal funds to teach doctors how to kill? I don’t see this as evidence of misogyny. It is an example of the unintended consequences of getting the federal government involved in health care-- you are going to get national standards set by people who may not agree with you.

Sort of reminds me of people who cry censorship when the government withholds funds for “objectionable” art. Get your own funding.

Flawed analogy. A more apt one would be withholding funds for brown paint, because someone might use it to draw a turd.

Sadly some US doctors would rather let the woman die than provide the legitimate health care required.

Clearly, what this nation needs to extricate itself from its economic doldrums and social instability is an explosion of unwanted babies by mothers who can least afford them.

Or as the poster says: You Can’t spell “Profilerate” without PRO-LIFE!

There’s no “I” in Pro-Life. Oh, wait…

Hmm. I should probably pretend that that wasn’t a typo, eh?

Because even if you’re against any and all sorts of elective abortions, you should realize that sometimes abortions are strictly necessary in order to not lose the mother along with the fetus.
I sincerely hope the very large majority of pro-life people can figure out which is the most desirable outcome in this situation, and which way “morality” goes. If not, America is fucked in ways I had not even imagined.

I see, you meant *You Can’t spell “Profilerate” without PRO-FILE! *

Doctors make good money. They can pay for their own training. There isn’t enough private money to train the few doctors needed to perform those abortions? :dubious:

n.b.: I’m pro-choice. But I don’t see why we need to spend federal money to train doctors.

You can’t spell PROLIFERATE without PROFIT.

Even if it were to be enacted, isn’t such a bill only symbolic anyway? How would it actually make any difference, given that the government isn’t the sole source of funding anyway? So they won’t teach abortion technique with this money, they’ll do it with that money. Aren’t both sides being disingenuous here?

You can’t spell pro-choice without “ice” or “ocho”. Or “pie”.

Yeah, I don’t understand why we need medical schools either.

Because public education is a good thing and ensures social mobility among other things ? Which is also a strictly positive thing in a society ? Just spitballin’ here.

Besides, med students do not make good money. And if they were, why would they pay for more training ? They’re already making good money. Let someone else do the training and sacrifice their wallet, surely there’s gonna be a few to take that burden, hmm ? Let it be someone else’s problem \o/

And that has what to do with federal funding of abortion training…?

I know some people can’t see a problem without assuming there must be a government solution, but this is a real stretch.
