Now you know why...

…I won’t eat your silly, pre-washed and pre-cut spinach.

When invited to dinner at friends, I often ask if the salad came in a plastic bag–even at my mother’s. People think it’s a strange question. Now they can think again. I’ve long been aware that this kind of product requires more hands touching the food, and that it’s relatively unregulated. Moreover, it’s kind of stupid to spend that much more to save a few minutes of washing and cutting.

You make a good point. This incident also points up one of the dangers in choosing “organic” products.

Well, if you would fight my ignorance I’d be grateful.

Since e. coli contamination of produce almost always comes from cow manure used prior to harvest, why is bagged spinach more dangerous than regular spinach?

How odd. I’ve been eating bags of spinach for over a year now in all kinds of salads. Hell I’m eating a tuna-avocado-spinach salad right now while persuing the SDMB, and I feel stronger than 1000 camels.

I think I’ll have another one later tonight because…well… I’m feeling lucky.

Yeah!!

Strained spinach is back!!!

I also know why you don’t receive many second dinner invitations.

I hate to kill a thread, but…
