NPR reviews the political rallies and who is turned away.

Give a listen. It is just sad IMO. Is preaching to the chior really expected to win votes for Bush?

What is expected to win votes is the 10 second sound bites on the local news that evening showing Bush in front of an adoring crowd.

Versus the painfull moments in the debates where it is obvious that the man hasn’t faced a tough question for nearly the entire campaign.

I know the rationale is that Kerry supporters may rush in and disrupt the stump speech, but is it really worth it in the long run. The p.r. from this hasn’t been good. Is the risk of disruption that great?

That story made me REALLY angry.

I imagine it won’t get much attention, because it was on NPR, which I think is viewed by some as the anti-Fox in terms of its political stance.

No, it probably isn’t. But they’re “precautions” make Kerry supporters look bad. After all, if Kerry supporters weren’t so rabid and vicious, they wouldn’t have to go to all that trouble to protect the president from those loons, would they? So, they get to show adoring fans cheering on the president and they get the added benefit of “demonstrating” that Kerry-ites can’t be trusted to behave peacefully and intelligently.

:dubious:

I was stating that from what the Bush camp’s point of view would be…or rather, what they’d like the image of the Kerry supporters to be. I don’t really think that I’m rabid and vicious…well, not most of the time.

The funniest thing is that this sheltering of Bush is doing him no favors. Who knows, he might be able to pull off Reagan-like or Jackie Mason-like answers to hecklers.

Ohhhh, I don’t really think so.

“Fool me once…”

I suppose next we’ll here the sky is plaid.
