I live on Oahu, home of Pearl Harbor, Schofield Barracks, Hickam AFB, Ft Shafter, Camp Smith and Kaneohe Marine base.

I know exactly where I would head in the event of a nuclear wasteland. The problem is that there is a big fucking desert between me and there and I have no idea how I’d reasonably cross it. I guess if I could somehow load 30 gallons of fuel in the car along with the dogs, family, guns and clothes plus other necessities we’d be ok. I probably need to look into roof racks well before that day comes though.
My bugout spot is 250 miles from the closest city with a population greater that 40K but has a river flowing through a fertile valley. The 2,000 bomb map does show a strike 60 miles away but it would be on the other side of a 10K high mountain range so my spot would probably be ok.
Really my problem is A) getting there and B) fighting/joining the natives so I can get my place in the society and C) hoping no one else floods the region in the time it takes me to cover the 750 miles since there are 60 million plus people that live in that radius. I don’t have any plans for living off of the land since in a county of 40K there are lots of farms, ranches, and fruit trees. Of course, this whole thing would be a lot easier if the end of times scenario could wait until my wife is able to work from home and we move to my bug out spot.
