Nuclear meltdown! Holy Godzilla NOOOO!!!

Actually, what gonzo wrote was the opposite of a sweeping generalization. It was specifically about the nuke industry.

But then, you’re such an idiot, you won’t even understand my explanation of this simple fact.

I don’t know why you feel better. The tsunami hit, fucked everything over and now it’s gone. People are cleaning up and trying to get back to their lives. Not Fukushima prefecture. Not so much.

What’s the cleanup rebuild cost of the tsunami per square kilometer, vs. the cost of cleanup and rebuild of the Fukushima nuclear plant per square kilometer?

Show me one single building damaged by the tsunami that was directly responsible for a 30-50 kilometer evacuation zone? I picked the Fukushima nuke plant, so you gotta pick something else.

We have Dopers here who have posted their own videos of buildings being washed away while they stood on nearby buildings watching, and filming.

How much home video do we have of Fukushima? Oh that’s right. Evacuation zone. Radiation. Screws up film. No fly zone. No fly zone? What’s that all about? Most of the images of Fukushima are satellite photos.

Not true. There are vast amounts of radar images, infrared and visual high def video of every bit of the power plant.

The Japanese refuse to release any of it.

I’ve seen infrared imagery (from satellite) of the buildings, or what’s left of them. There are good reasons for not letting the public see them. They might get scared.

Source?

No, I don’t think so. Google it.

How the hell would you KNOW that?

Are you a Japanese whisleblower by chance?

I’m pretty sure I linked to the articles here, or in the other topic. The ones that reported this and explained how.

The US has been using a Predator drone to provide real time data, since the first day. They gave Japan the option of sharing. The Japanese refuse to share any of it.

The shaking low res video that appeared on TV was not Predator footage.

No, the difference between GD and The Pit is that you can call each other liars and insults in The Pit. You can cite in The Pit.

Because dungholes in GD insist that there is nothing wrong in the absence of confirmed official reports, I brought it over here. The reality is that it is all fucked up in Fukushima, people have been poisoned by the radiation, workers evacuated from the plant, tens of thousands from their homes, they cannot go into their own fucking homes that they fucking paid for and live in because the pro nukies plan for incidents like this was to lie their asses off, obfuscate and irradiate.

If it is so fucking safe and you guys are such fucking experts, I’m pretty sure that they can use you in that control room and on the premises right now. Didn’t think so. Not a one of you pro-nukies from the US is going to get anywhere near that plant, and if you do, you will get irradiated beyond safe levels.

The reality is that you guys don’t give a shit for anyone but the owners of these plants and don’t feel the slightest bit of compassion for someone who is homeless because of this entirely preventable (no nuke plants) disaster. Shit, some of you are even arguing that it isn’t a catastrophe. And that includes a public relations catastrophe because people’s fear and losing their homes is a logical disconnect.

Calm down.

They haven’t even recovered all the bodies yet you idiot. Do you have a fucking cite that shows that people have cleaned up and are getting back to their lives except in Fukushima?? Because if you’ve actually looked at the fucking pictures from the disaster you’d see how asinine such an assertion is…there are places where the houses and businesses are little better than fucking drift wood and match sticks, where they are still trying to recover the dead. There are 100’s of thousands of people who are living in essentially refuges camps because their homes are gone.

Why on a square kilometer basis? Well, that’s easy, isn’t it…it’s because you know that compared to the rest of the earthquake and tsunami damage the cost of repairing this facility is going to be a drop in the bucket. Don’t you?

I pick the disaster that caused it all. So, last I heard there was close to half a million displaced by the tsunami and earthquake. They didn’t evacuate because of the threat of nuclear contamination…their homes are mostly gone, destroyed by the earthquake, drown by the tsunami or burned by the resulting fires. Have you LOOKED at the fucking pictures coming out of Japan?? What have you got from just Fukushima? Do you know what the term ‘order of magnitude difference’ is?

You say this as if it means something but I’m at a loss to see what you think this proves. There are people WORKING at the fucking plant. They aren’t dying in droves. Last I heard they had restored the ability to pump fresh water into reactor 2 and 3, and are looking at ways to pump out the nasty radiated water from the basement of 3. No one has died. Few have been seriously injured.

Compare and contrast that to the disaster that caused all this you idiot. Of course, you don’t want to make that comparison because it makes you look like a fucking fool. But then, you ARE a fucking fool.

You’ve claimed that somebody made this argument but you can’t recall who. I’m claiming that you’re telling porkies to try to justify a blatant strawman.

Clear enough for you? And the great thing is all you have to do is quote someone who said that detectable levels of radiation would never make it to the US and you can prove me wrong. Best of luck.

Show me one person who has denied that there are problems at Fukushima.

Show me one person who has denied that people have been subjected to radiation.

Show me one person who has denied that workers have been evacuated due to unsafe conditions at the plant.

Show me one person who has denied the evacuations.

Show me one person who has denied that thousands have been displaced.

{knock, knock, knock} Nancy, Nancy Grace, is that you in there?

I said people are cleanING up and tryING to get back to their lives. Could you be a bigger tool? It’s so typical of you to not read and instead respond to whatever it is the voices in your head are telling you to respond to.

Give me a cite that says they *aren’t *cleaning up and *not *trying to get back to their lives. And wipe the drool off your chin.

Radiation is reaching the US?

So it is already possible I’m radioactive.

I have to agree. It’s obvious that nobody has a plan, there never has been a plan. There probably can’t even BE a fucking plan for this level of fucking disaster.

And it would be the exact same fuck up in any other country, because nobody has a plan. There may not even be a way to create a plan.

But that won’t fucking stop somebody from doing it again.

Some men, you just can’t reach.

So, in other words, you had no point, right? Because people are ‘cleanING up’ and ‘tryING to get back to their lives’ in Fukushima as well…and with about the same amount of success, since literally 100’s of thousands of people have had their houses or places of work completely fucking wiped out. As for being a tool, seriously man…you need to look in the mirror. You make a horseshit throw away statement that means nothing but attempts to imply that folks are just getting back to their lives everywhere else but in the horrible ‘nuclear disaster’ zone, when in fact you know that’s not the case. Or, you SHOULD know it. I am starting to wonder if you really are as stupid as gonzo after all. I didn’t think you were, but then I hadn’t really noticed you much before this series of threads, so perhaps giving you the benefit of the doubt was being overly generous.

Give me a cite that shows that they aren’t trying to clean up at Fukushima and that there are no plans to let folks evacuated back into the area on any sort of time table similar to the other, non-nuclear evacuations that have ALSO happened, you fucking moron.

And that’s not drool on my chin but Dr. Pepper that shot out of my nose when I read this latest post by you. If you think you are covering yourself in glory here…well, it doesn’t seem to be the case from where I’m sitting.

Radioactive particles from the Fukushima plant are, yes. Did the pro-nuke side assure you otherwise? They’ve been known the fudge the facts a bit.

They don’t like facts. Facts lead to knowledge, and knowledge leads to fear, and fear leads to 14 billion dollar over budget and behind schedule nuke plants getting canceled.

They hate facts. Instead, they rely on ridiculous comparisons like child molesters kill far fewer people per year than cars and coal plants, so child molesters are a *good *thing! See, you don’t need *facts *to convince people, just use meaningless comparisons.

So, in the end you also have to resort to the straw men.

As we are talking about the actual levels of radioactive particles that are reaching the USA, yes you are not talking knowledge here, you are implying that we should be fearful.

If you can not produce a quote that actually does like you claim here, you are just piling on the straw.

Not being logical is indeed direct evidence of not wanting to use facts.

[/QUOTE]

Did they? Or did they say that any radiation that actually got here would be so minor that it would hardly be above background and would pose no health risk? I’m sure you have a cite handy, right?

Your straw man would make for great bonfire at Burning Man.

No one has said that radiation from Japan will not reach around the globe. The amount in North America is detectable, but otherwise trivial. Please don’t go all Nancy Grace on us.
