Nuclear War after effects

Suppose Pakistan and India go ahead and have a full nuclear exchange.

What would the physical effects to The United States be?

I figure the EMP pulse would be instant…though insignificant being on the other side of the globe.

Fallout would take days to drift over here.

Save for it’s effect on any satellites in LOS, which would be quite a few. Fortunately (relatively speaking), most (if not all) of the special weapons in that region of the world are fairly small. Probably no more than the LEO satellites would get totally cooked…

Dunno about fallout: Too many imponderables… How ‘clean’ are the weapons? What yield? Air Burst or Ground Burst? How many? Under any circumstances, don’t expect to see much in the way of accute health problems. Chronic health problems may or may not happen.

Also, we could count on some really spectacular sunsets for a while.

What about economic fallout?

My WAG is the NYSE Dow Jones Average would drop at least 25 percent. I think that economic fallout would have greater immediate and long-term consequences to the average American than nuclear fallout.
