Nude cruise or vacation: Anyone ever been on one?

For those who don’t know, there’s a whole segment of the travel industry dedicated to bringing us resort vacations and cruises which are just like the standard articles, only you can spend the entire time you’re there without a stitch of clothing on your back (or anywhere else). Some of the cruises are run by mainstream cruise lines such as Carnival, which sometimes uses the Ectasy for the purpose, that being their largest and newest ship if I’m not mistaken. Then there are a number of resorts that seem to be much like Club Med, for example, except they’re clothing optional. It sounds to me like it would be a fantastic experience.

I’ve been on a couple of day visits to a clothing optional facility, and really enjoyed the experience, but there’s a difference between stripping down for a few hours, and doing the same for several days. I’d like to hear from people who’ve done the cruises. Does it become dull after the novelty wears off?

And on another note, if your SO was reluctant to consider the idea at first, how were you able to persuade him/her otherwise?

Never done the cruise, but have stayed at a clothing optional resort many times.

I don’t know what you mean by the experience being “dull after the novely wears off.” The novely of being nude around other nude people wears off REALLY quickly, so if you’re relying on that to be the exciting part of your vacation you’re in for a long week.

The club I went to on my day visits was OK, but it didn’t really have the best facilities. The pool was too small for the number of people, there weren’t enough grounds for hiking, nor a beach. So while I enjoyed it and would go again, I still found myself wishing they had more.

A cruise Mrs. Bernse and I went on 5 years ago had a “clothing optional” deck. The novelty quickly wore off as 98% of the people there were not exactly people you’d even want to see in the buff.

The point isn’t to see other nude people. From my experience mentioned in the OP, it’s just the same cross section of humanity that you’d see anywhere, except that everyone’s naked. None of us are perfect specimens of physical humanity, and I think the idea should be to accept nude people the same way we do clothed people–in context, of course.

For me, the biggest benefit is just the feeling of being clothes free…feeling the sun and breeze all over you. Typical men’s swimwear these days is getting ridiculously long and modest; do we really need to wear trunks that pass our knees? I sure don’t. And yet, those of us who choose speedos or even skimpier attire may face ridicule. But being in a clothing optional environment you totally escape all that. Everyone’s nude, and the men don’t have to wear yards more material just because they’re men.

I’d argue with you, but it is against the rules to make links to the kind of sites necessary to prove my point. :stuck_out_tongue:

My ex-wife and I were discussing visiting our local clothes-free resort.

We passed on the opportunity. I found out one of my co-workers was a regular. While I was into swinging (sort of) and the like, it’s not anything I would have wanted to share with my co-workers… or at least that particular co-worker.

The hot little red-head down in tape ops though… Mmmmm…

That’s a bummer. That sort of thing would probably prevent me from going too.

I’ve never been, but I was invited to a clothing optional beach once. I declined, because I really like to have, you know, friends. I’m afraid if they saw me naked they’d think I was not a human, but a hut. I cant stand to see myself nude in a mirror, so I wouldn’t inflict that ghastly sight on people I like. :o

If I had a good looking body I’d go. I’m not shy, just obese.

Geezer the Hut?? Catchy!

Anyone in SE Texas, now’s your chance to try:

Oh, Blacks Beach in SD, Calif was fine for naked people since it was a great place to surf & a legal nude beach at the time.

But nude people on ships-no. Sure they have to use a towel so they don’t get their naked butt on the furniture, but then they have to pick up that towel & carry it around with them, thus getting their hands chock full of, well, naked butt  & you shake their hands & what not, well, that doesn’t sound like too much fun for me.

If I ever went on one I’d probably spend most of my time with my sarong around my hips. Specifically for that reason. I don’t think I’d mind going topless much, as long as people aren’t going to stare.

Here, most people wear pretty skimpy swimwear (usually a t-back bikini for gals, asmall speedo for guys). I find that much more erotic than nudity. Plus, most people in SoBe work out and watch their weight-hard bodies are a lot sexier than flabby ones!
