For some reason, even posters on bans, suspensions, and posting sabbaticals have their number of posts displayed with every post, but not guests.
Some of you may say, “Quit being such a cheapskate and pay up for it.” However, this isn’t only for myself. I would find it to be a mildly statistic to be shown for other guests as well.
Besides, I don’t really see why it should be a paid feature.
Personally, I don’t need to know how many posts a member has to judge the content of his posts. He could have 10 or 10,000, it makes no difference to me. If a poster seems knowledgeable, engaging, and can write coherently, I value that above his post count. For me, it’s quality>quantity.
I asked about why banned posters have their post count show up. What it came down to is that guests don’t have post counts displayed. Every other status does. So you can show up, register for free and then get banned after a while and then your location and post count will show up because you’re not a guest anymore.
Still, is there a reason these guys hide the number of posts for guests with every post (I know it shows it in your profile, but I am talking about at the side of each post)?
It’s not a big deal, but it is a mildly useful statistic and makes us guests seem a little less alienated, and I don’t see why we should have to pay to have our number of posts shown.
If post counts are to be used as perks for us paying members, wouldn’t it make more sense to grant only paying members the ability to see post counts of everyone else? Denying me the right to easily see the post counts of guests seems bass-ackwards, incentive-wise.
