how many steps did I take on the Appalachian trail
on the great smoky mountains nat. park section
from south to north and reverse
including elevation gain and loss
also
how many steps on the entire trail from georgia to maine
and reverse and elevation loss and gain
I don’t know. How many steps did you make on the various portions of the trail? Did you not use a pedometer and measure it yourself?
You could consult any available maps and statistics sites to obtain the actual length of each trail segment, then calculate your own gait in order to determine how many steps you made. Only you can do that.
The trail is approximately 2200 miles, elevation gains and loses probably don’t increase that distance by very much. That works out to 11,616,000 feet. If you figure a 2’ stride that’s 5,808,000 steps.
Total elevation gain on the AT is roughly 500,000 feet.
No wonder it was so hard to breathe when I got finished…
