Nutria in Washington?

I just heard on the local news that three nutria were caught in Mt. Vernon, WA. I’d never heard of them here. I thought they were pretty much a Louisiana thing. I wonder how they got here? Always here, but never mentioned? Cross-country stowaways? Mardi Gras souvenier that escaped?

I blame terrorists, myself.

“That ain’t no groundhog…!” <swerve, CRASH>

Can they survive in cold weather?

uh-oh. Kudzu with legs.

Perhaps not quite so prolific, but Louisiana’s not too enamored with the critters.

FWIW, we have them in Virginia. And our winters get cold, although not dire.
