One of the thigns Trump ran on was that his incredible wealth made him incorruptable. I really don’t get why anyone would donate to a billionaire like this. Someone should start asking Republicans like Majorie Taylor Green how much she’s sent to support Trump.
If you can stomach it, go to the site and read some of the comments posted by donors. The upshot is that they firmly believe Joe Biden is the anti-Christ and Donnie is the Messiah.
Just read an article that Trump’s lawyer has submitted a demand to Engoron that they be allowed to negotiate the settlement??? WT actual F? It included the statement that Trump “was not allowed” to defend himself. Isn’t that what an appeal is? Is this actually a thing? Newsweek
That’s not how I read the defendants’ letter. They want an opportunity to be heard before a final judgment is entered. The AG submitted their proposed form of a final judgment yesterday, and they are asking for a chance to submit their own, and to be heard on it. It doesn’t seem to seek a “settlement.”
As the Court of Appeals explained in Funk v. Barry, 89 N.Y.2d 364, 367 (1996), the
appropriate procedural mechanism for submitting a judgment to the Clerk of the Court “for more complicated dispositions, such as orders involving restraints or contemplating a set of follow-up procedures” is a directive to “settle order.” “Because the decision ordinarily entails more complicated relief, the instruction contemplates notice to the opponent so that both parties may either agree on a draft or prepare counter proposals to be settled before the court
There I am in another thread saying I don’t get mad at Trump’s outrageous behavior because I’m just fatigued by all the outrage. But reading this made me laugh out loud. Bwa ha ha ha ha ha!
A lot of this (by my lay reading) seems to hinge on whether Engoron asked for a proposal and, if so, what kind.
Counterproposals only come into play if the court directs the parties to “settle.” If the directive was to “submit order,” then only the prevailing party submits.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Funk v Barry appears to be irrelevant; it’s a case about whether a statutory 60-day time limit on proposed judgements applies when the decision contains no directive for either “settling” or “submitting.”
OR the date he files for personal bankruptcy, thus delaying the payments until 2025. Pinning his hopes on becoming Dear Supreme Leader, wiping out all his judgements and jailing his opposition.
Would personal bankruptcy have any effect at all? Since his multitude of business entities are co-defendants, wouldn’t the state still have the power to place claims against all his business assets?
I believe the only point would be to further delay things, and to tie it up in court some more so that Trump does not have to cough up with the money for appeal.
I don’t know what ads you all are seeing, but for me, right below Trides post is an ad for UBS. The copy reads: "Will Your Portfolio Get You To The Finish Line?
