Admitting he’s open to bribery as a defense against fraud charges is certainly a bold strategy, Cotton.
Man, the amount of corruption in that whole family is just stunning.

So assuming that this thing passes appeal, how does the revoking of the business license actually work. Can he no longer accept rent from this tenants? or are they somehow held in escrow until he finds a new buyer?
I assume that pretty much everything he owns will have to be sold ASAP, and any buyerw will know he’s under the gun, which means that they will probably be going at fire sale prices . Unless they are all bought up by the Saudi’s as a preemptive bribe on spec that he might win in 2024
.
Now that is an entirely unique criminal defense: The existence of victims proves it wasn’t a crime!
B-b-b-buttt…his laptop! And her emails!! And Benghazi!
“Don’t look behind that curtain, folks! Nothing to see here!”
How do you know they’re not finding them? These are civil actions, and they aren’t going to make the news in most cases. I imagine in most cases the defendants enter into a settlement that may include fines, classes in business ethics and possibly the removal of a few individuals from key positions in the company. Most businesses are not as large or high profile as the Trump Organization and I wouldn’t expect these to make the news. Most wrongdoers, when caught red-handed, try to negotiate the best settlement they can. Trump’s technique of insisting he did nothing wrong in the face of overwhelming evidence and conducting his defense on social media is the unique factor here, not the civil action.
A NY state company I was affiliated with once went through a sales tax audit. There were three auditors and it took weeks, although they weren’t there every day. They ended up owing about 75K in unpaid taxes and penalties. This company, which only had about a dozen employees, was even on notice from their accountant that they would probably be audited…because a change to their core operations ( the elimination of their retail store ) had resulted in a drastic change in their tax collections. Still, the auditors tore them apart and found every little irregularity, most which involved salespeople not collecting proper paperwork on sales to business accounts.
I was very careful with my business records in my very small NY state business, because they DO pay attention.
Once in a while one of them will slip, like Leona Helmsley’s famous “Only the little people pay taxes”
On August 30, Helmsley was convicted of one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States,[23] three counts of tax evasion,[24] three counts of filing false personal tax returns,[25] sixteen counts of assisting in the filing of false corporate and partnership tax returns,[25] and ten counts of mail fraud.[26][27]… Helmsley was instead sentenced to sixteen years in prison, which was eventually reduced when all but eight of the convictions were dropped.[
The “Little people” struck back.
OTOH, she was convicted of 30 federal crimes and 22 of those crimes disappeared at the stroke of somebody’s pen. And of the 16 years sentence she served 21 months, or about 3 weeks per conviction.
I think the “big people” won about 95% of that exchange.

For the IRS all you have to do is admit you were wrong and pay the amount due, then they reduce the crimes and sentence. That’s for anybody.
For the IRS all you have to do is admit you were wrong…
This is where Trump will get tripped-up, fo-sho!
Like in the video of him stammering to say the 2020 election was over. It’s like he has a gag reflex when being forced to say he did something wrong (or lost).

Even if you’re still under audit?
This is where Trump will get tripped-up, fo-sho!
Yep. And that is why they cut a deal with Hunter.
And it’s why Snipes went to prison. He still maintained his tax protester position.
never mind
Did Trump have any opportunity to settle thise case with the AG? I could have sworn he did but maybe I’m just making assumptions.
Just watch the first 30 seconds or so.
Eric Trump just realized he’s in big trouble
In a third tweet, sounding more than a little desperate, Eric stressed that he had nothing to do with the big decisions at the Trump Organization.
I liked this comment on his tweet:
Dear Eric, Probably because your dad threw you under the bus and said you were in control of the company while he was President.
And this one:
“Eric Trump is the Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization and oversees all aspects of management and operation of the global real estate empire.” - Trump Organization website
“I had absolutely NOTHING to do” with fraud by the Trump Organization. - Eric Trump
Were you lying then or are you lying now. Or both?
I’m sure Eric made him a few good cups of coffee.
If you are relying on a disclaimer to keep you out of trouble, you already know you have committed fraud.
