Backatcha.
Welp … it’s not like I needed a reason to drink!
I missed when all this is going to start. I can’t wait. Will any of it be televised?
Delay is not a strong enough word for it…
IANAL but my understanding is that such a case can drag out for a very long time. The NY AG’s civil case against Hank Greenberg, an insurance company executive, began in 2005 and a settlement was reached in 2017.
Conservative estimates of Trump’s net worth are around $3 billion. A $250 million judgment is not going to leave him living in a cardboard box.
And we will see if the “net” is in reality a typo.
I have to admit that Trump might actually do a pretty good job as a greeter. Stand there, smile stupidly, greet people and sometimes chat a bit.
I was just thinking… could all this mean DeSantis is defacto power of the GOP now? I mean, I can see TFG telling DeSantis “Look, I can make you President, but you gotta give me pardons for all this sh!t, OK?!?”. TFG could do this by staying out of the race, and he would essentially be letting DeSantis hold him by the short-and-curlys. I know it would be against TFG’s grain to let someone have power over him like that, but it may the the only way he avoids a prison cell.
DeSantis can’t pardon Trump in this case. POTUS pardon powers are limited to federal charges.
Ahh. Thanks!
Still, if DeSantis were smart about this, he’d make TFG believe he could pardon him!
But is that based on stuff like this? Because the big allegation is that he is overvaluing his assets to pretend his business is growing. His accountants pretend that an apartment is bigger than it is, then have it increase in value when nothing actually changes.
How much of that $3 billion net worth is also based on these sorts of lies and fraud? This is a guy who has trouble getting loans, remember.
I can’t see it. He can’t be nice to people unless they are massaging his ego. Not even when doing so would be in his own best interest.
Eugene Debs ran from prison.
In theory, Trump could be blocked under the insurrection clause of the 14th amendment. In practice, that would be a destructive violation of democratic norms.
As for “all our hopes and dreams,” I’m almost speechless. Are there millions who think this?
I suppose there are even more who have the same dream about Hillary Clinton.
Is Trump a worse person than she is? That’s my opinion. But going to prison should never be seen as a happy event.
Yeah.
Creating a new company doesn’t create the money, though. If Trujp Org goes bankrupt, and Trump is personally barred from creating a new company in NY, that really limits responsible lenders from loaning any money. What assets does he have for his new shell company>
Well that depends. Do debts to banks count as “assets”?
I believe SARS-COV-2 is a big Trump supporter.
I accept your evidence that his strongest supporters are losing enthusiasm. But they still have only one vote, and they still support him. If the 2024 election was held today, Trump could easily do better than last time:
It’s true that Biden is up by 3 points in the latest poll in my last link. But merging the two September 2022 polls to date, there is a popular vote tie. And given the electoral college, that feels to me like a Trump lead. Yes it is far, far in advance, but month after month, I look at that web page, and Trump is just about always ahead.
If he was convicted by a jury of his peers, exhausted all appeals, and had to run from prison,. I do believe that would hurt him with swing voters. And I’m sure that will not happen in the next 26 months.
P.S. I actually think he would be in electoral trouble if convicted by a unanimous jury verdict, even if appeals were pending. But not because of the conviction. It would be because the unanimous verdict was a symptom of great loss of electoral support.
Assuming Trump et al. lose bigly, could the court order seizure of his golf courses to pay the judgment?
heeheeheeheeheeheeheehee
Since when has Trump ever needed silly things like money? He’s rich. The rich (somehow) manage to not need money. No, I don’t understand how that works, either.
