I wonder if this is going to turn into “Trump gets upset and says something and hauled into court, gets fined, gets upset and says something and gets hauled into court” until he gets jailed for good/dies of apoplexy.
I disagree. The man is tighter than a ducks arse. He’d teach scrooge a lesson. And not as rich as pretends too. And not even sensible, failing to pay his lawyers before and codefendents/now state witnesses against him, getting him arguably into this position in the first place.
It might seem that he doesn’t have a problem dropping 10K to insult someone, but spending money like that will make him seethe…
Das righ! Fire-up Fleece-a-Rube dot com with the mewling pleas of persecution and “Ow! That judge is so mean to me!” and that will get some cash coming in.
So what? The world is full of illegal activities that are profitable. It doesn’t even rise to the level of an argument. “Your honor, I know it’s against the law to sell meth to high schoolers, but how else am I supposed to pay my defense attorney?”
A white man, born to wealth, who has lived his whole life in unearned luxury with deference from the legions of yes-men that surround him, failing upwards into the most powerful political office in the world?
there was a report that trump and his lawyers went back in the court for about 90ish seconds after his “tantrum”. i’m betting it was a warning about his behaivour. the table slam and walkout.
this is one man that just has no control, or filter, and he has finally come up against the force of the court.
h/t to (former GW Bush WH Communications Director) MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace who framed this as:
I have vizslas, so all of the training of that breed is about impulse control: teaching them not to run after the squirrel and not to roll in horse poop,” she said. “Trump has less impulse control than a hunting dog. Couldn’t keep himself out of trouble.
It’s about effing time. My faith in the justice system of this country has been, shall we say, challenged over the last few years. I hope they get it right after all this time, at least with one of these cases.
I can see it now. “Ivanka, nice inheritance you’re gonna get. Be a shame if anything happened to it.”
But Trump’s other kids are going to testify too. From @slumtrimpet 's NBC item:
I think that Ivanka will give reliable testimony—didn’t she try to distance herself from her father’s 2024 campaign when he announced it? Not that she wants to see her father in more trouble than he already is, but she strikes me as someone in that organization who at least has some sense of ethical behaviour.
I’m somewhat less sure that Don Jr. and Eric will testify truthfully. They strike me as the rats who were too stupid to leave the sinking ship. But a prosecutor skilled at questioning can get them to perjure themselves, should they seem to be less-than-honest on the stand.
I see her as more being aware that she is the only Trump that has a chance of maintaining a brand from the ashes from the Trump Empires downfall. The brand being IVANKA and not Trump. What she has is business sense and a sense of self preservation, both of which her dad lacks.
Plus, I suspect she’s been smart enough to extract as much from Trump Sr. as possible in the last 20 years or so. Her idiot brothers though? Not so much. I imagine they’re relying entirely on inheriting the empire, as failsons tend to do.
