NY AG Letitia James drops the (civil) hammer {On Trump & Family} [9/21/2022]

His BS is most often delivered in textual syllabites. Very likely his legal team had arranged for a baby-twitter to keep him in check.

They already communicate in ‘wing dings’ that is the highest form of language for them.

courtroom reporting is that things are not going well for the trump side.

a judge is saying that the gag order does not infringe on trump’s first amendment rights. all three judges are pushing back on the argument that trump’s ability to campaign.

So, business as usual?

Yeah. Trump’s team is kinda’ trying the old, “You’re infringing on my client’s Constitutional right to kill people.”

And, no. They are not buying it.

I think this proceeding pertains to the federal criminal January 6th insurrection case, not Letitia James’s civil case.

oops quite right. on to the correct thread.

Jeff McConney: Former Trump Org. controller breaks down in tears on witness stand in fraud trial | CNN Politics

After four days of testimony and two trips to the witness stand, former Trump Organization controller Jeff McConney broke down in tears on Tuesday, telling the court the toll of the numerous investigations and accusations of misconduct drove him to leave the company he loved working for after 35 years.

“I just couldn’t do it anymore,” McConney said. “I just wanted to relax and stop being accused of misrepresenting assets for the company that I loved working for.”

The emotional outcry came when Jesus Suarez, an attorney for former President Donald Trump, asked McConney before the lunch break why he left the Trump Org.

Before answering the question McConney took a long pause, removed his glasses, and threw his arms in the air. Trump attorney Alina Habba motioned to a court officer to bring him a box of tissues. Judge Arthur Engoron gave her a thumbs up.
McConney acknowledged on cross examination that he’s received all but $125,000 of a $500,000 severance package from Trump Org.

mr conney was tripped up a bit on the cross examination. seriously! the non payment thing from the trump org is getting ridiculous. how people stay loyal to them is mindboggling.

He was fine with all the misconduct; it’s just the investigation of the misconduct that was intolerable. Noted.

“I feel proud of what I did. I think everything was justified. Numbers don’t represent fully what these assets are worth,” McConney said. “I got to do a lot of things normally an accountant wouldn’t be able to do.

Like inflate assets. Ignore Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Blame others for your work when caught.

Numbers don’t represent what the assets are worth? What the hell does this mean coming from an accountant? We have to include the magical aura of Trumpiness in the financial statements?

That reminds me of a joke in the joke thread (which I stole and posted on FB, BTW). ’ I got my first job as an accountant at 22. They fired me when I turned 30. 13 years of loyalty to the company down the drain.’

Well, yes.

From his 2014 Statement of Financial Condition - 26pp PDF:

Pursuant to GAAP, this financial statement does not reflect the value of Donald J. Trump’s worldwide reputation; however, the brand value has afforded Mr. Trump the opportunity to participate in licensing deals around the globe as reflected on the balance sheet herein (See Note 5). Mr. Trump’s name conveys a high degree of quality and profitability. This prestige significantly enhances the value of the properties reflected in this financial statement, as well as that of his future projects. The brand along with the level of quality of Mr. Trump’s residential developments has allowed the selling price per square foot in Trump properties to be amongst the highest among prominent real estate developers. The goodwill attached to the Trump name has significant financial value that has not been reflected in the preparation of this financial statement.

That right there is some top-of-the-line, USDA Prime, Grade A bullshit. You have to, at least, give them that.

This seems to be explicitly saying that they could just multiply the asset values by (t), which is the Trumpiness variable that changes daily depending on what Trump needs it to be to inflate the asset.

Seems legit.

And when you use values less than 1, the variable can be used to appropriately de-value the asset, as well. Only the best variables.

We finally know who one of those strong men with tears in their eyes actually is.

To be fair, the Trump brand does currently substantially devalue anything associated with it.

And I gave that company the best 15 years of my life.

Erm…

As long as one doesn’t look beyond the surface.

Gold Plated shit is still shit. Shiny shit - but shit nonetheless.
