The beautiful, historic Loews in Jersey City, directly across from the PATH so it’s super easy to reach from Manhattan, is showing Double Indemnity tomorrow night, Out of the Past Saturday afternoon, and Sunset Boulevard Saturday night. More info at the theatre’s website. I’ll be there, but social anxiety means I won’t be saying hi, sorry – just hope others will appreciate the info as much as I did.
Man, I’d love to see Out* of the Past * on the big screen again.
This will be my first time, lissener, and I’m so unbelievably psyched. What a great movie, right?
I also saw the first screening of the previously lost Edison Frankenstein film there, which was a hell of a thing, but I kept missing the various shows they’ve been putting on like The Decemberists and Yo La Tengo, so I’m on the mailing list now. I encourage area folks to do likewise.
Have not seen OOTP but regardless I must encourage everyone to see Double Indemnity and Sunset Blvd.
Spoliers-
OOTP- awesome noir, one of the best, but a terrribly confusing plot, and the kid at the end should NOT have said “yes” to the old flame.
DE- also one of the best noirs, mainly for Edward G Robinson and a great plot. The only time McMurray playing a desirable male makes sense, because in this film, him being a lothario is all in his mind. How did this schlub, good actor and all, get desriable male roles?
SB- very good film.
