Rigged! Unfair! Witch hunt!
If you keep going down the ladder it reminds me of some HOAs. I think they get an undeserved reputation but those bad apples sure seem to be in this same vein.
I do not think that, but I do think it common for people innocent of the charges to be indicted. Whether or not he is guilty will be determined by due process of law.
Me either - I don’t know of anyone who even liked him before he was elected . I saw him quoted yesterday talking about how 700,000 people voted for him - in a city of 8 million.
Notice how the Democrats aren’t running to microphones complaining about political prosecution? Funny that.
here is a source.
NY Gov Kathy Hochul issues statement on Eric Adams news – NBC New York
Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office released a statement on behalf of the Democrat Thursday regarding the news surrounding Mayor Eric Adams’ anticipated federal charges, according to sources. She has the authority to remove him from office. But a spokesperson says she’s not getting into the fray at this point.
summary, the governor is staying calm yet wary.
i am finding the amount of “law and order” candidates that are not lawful…disturbing.
Haha! I had forgotten he ran as a law and order candidate.
NYC got a lot of migrants & it’s costing them a ton because they have to house them because of some law that they have. He is stating it’s because he spoke out against that that Biden ordered an investigation.
The thing is if you didn’t do anything wrong (Ha, an honest politician!) they wouldn’t have found anything on him.
He was a cop for 20+ years & a captain in the NYPD
CNN reporting that Adams has been charged with bribery, wire fraud, and seeking illegal campaign donations from a foreign national.
I wonder how many of those migrants are only there because of Gov. Abbott.
i switched from cnn to msnbc as they have a better law team.
the mayor’s press conference was quite wild with shouting on both sides. chants of “resign”! the mayor shot back with “not happening”. i’m sure his lawyers were hoping that he would not say something that would haunt him in court.
next up is the doj who has an exhibit up showing a bit of a timeline regarding the charges.

the benefits, upgrades, etc on the chart were undisclosed and went from 2017 to present, and totalled over 100k.
A political stunt by Abbott to be sure but then why should those in border areas shoulder the brunt of a federal issue? The cost of the bus ride was probably less than what the state would have to spend if they remained there.
Just saying Adams might be better served by directing his ire at Abbott rather than Biden.
no, he (Adams) is stating that since he bitched about the migrants it pissed off Biden & therefore Biden sicced the FBI on him. Abbott may have been the source of his bitching but not the cause of his legal woes. IMHO, Adams’ story makes us sound like a banana republic.
Just listened. If they truly have evidence of everything they’re alleging, then they have Adams dead to rights.
If I were Clarence Thomas, I’d start making a whole bunch of Turkish contacts. That place seems like a veritable gold mine for corrupt American officials.
Not just a political stunt but a spectacularly cruel one, given that the asylum seekers involved only travelled because they were promised resources and aid when they arrived, only to be dumped and abandoned with nothing and no warning, which was not only horrific for those people but which created an immediate (and completely unnecessary) crisis for the locations they were left at. In addition, many of them were now left hundreds or even over a thousand miles from the location of their asylum hearings, which (despite assurances) were not relocated.
But please keep pretending that this was just a harmless political stunt with no additional net cost rather than one that made the situation markedly worse (and more expensive) for the purposes of hurting people.
Well, Duh! Haven’t you ever heard of ‘Turkish Delight’?
According to Adams, these charges are false.
According to analysis I heard this morning, the campaign finance charge is not just someone contributed a little too much but more like corruption pay-for-play.
Given how high the Supreme Court has set the bar for proving political corruption in Snyder v. United States and McDonnell v. United States, I have to assume that prosecutors have him dead to rights to bring an indictment.
I read somewhere that they have someone who is rolling on him. It is a very high bar due to the caselaw you quoted but that’s how they got Menendez. One of his co-conspirators agreed to testify.
I actually learned about the New York governor’s power on an episode of Blue Bloods. Part of the plot was the police commissioner had a conflict with the governor and the governor threatened to fire him. It seemed pretty far fetched to me seeing as how the commissioner was not a state employee and wasn’t hired by the state. I looked into it and found that the New York governor has some pretty extraordinary powers including the ability to remove the mayor without an impeachment. Certainly more power than the governor in my state.
