Yeah, I gave up on UNDINE long ago, as well as IIRC once having a go at MYRMIDON.
There’s lots of scientific terms not in the list. For example, names of some chemical elements, such as INDIUM, which would be in today’s puzzle.
True. But they sure love cooking! Weird foodie terms I’ve only seen on cooking shows.
I was going to say, I’m surprised they are not accepting GNOCCI today, but that’s because I’m spelling it wrong.
Yeah, I did the same thing. It needs an H.
That said, this one was pretty easy given that you can just slap an ING on the end of half your words to make another word.
Which is how I managed to get the pangram of crooking
Actually, when adding ING or ED to the words is an option, that doesn’t make it easier; it just increases the number of possible words.
Well, it increases the number of longer and more easily found words too, although this is reflected in the points thresholds.
They didn’t take TAPPET today.
Did SB used to accept OPAH? Anyway, not anymore.
Opah was an acceptable word in 17 Bees, but has been disallowed the past three times it’s come up.
Perhaps Sam had a disagreeable sushi experience.
Haha! It’s weird how some fish names are allowed and not others. Maybe one day, betta will work.
Tappet was one of my examples in the OP!
‘Peated’ wasn’t accepted today either. My guess is that Sam is a wine guy, not a whiskey guy.
After many years of listening to “Click and Clack, the Tappet brothers” on Car Talk, I’m always disappointed when TAPPET isn’t accepted.
Didn’t accept dado or dadoed today, either, continuing to reinforce my view that Sam’s an effete toff who’s never touched a hand tool in his life. Granted, making dados is a lot easier with power tools than with hand tools.
It hasn’t accepted dado for as long as I’ve been playing.
I had high hopes for TITTLETATTLE today (4/28) but it turns out to be hyphenated, alas. Still - both halves count on their own.
I don’t know why the word codec is not allowed. It’s not like it’s obscure.
The word UNCLOUDED is not obscure. The person who compiles this puzzle is just a fucking idiot.
I dislike any puzzle with UN because the choices of words for which to include that as a prefix are seemingly random, and so I feel like I have to try every one.
