You misspelled playbabble.
So the toughest words for me today were THATAWAY and ARHAT. The latter because it’s obscure; the only place I’ve come across it is Sb. The former, well, maybe because it’s so simple compared to words like HORTATORY, which I found long before.
I failed to get that word because I tried to spell it with the wrong number of Ts.
Today’s puzzle didn’t accept at least two OLOGYs I tried: LOGOLOGY and ETHOLOGY. I found three, but I suspect there may be others I didn’t find.
I tried one of those as well. And there’s more than three accepted ones (not including LOGY on its own), one of which I was inordinately proud of myself for remembering.
Well I’ve gotten to Genius already, so I probably won’t keep looking. Would you mind telling us the others you found, in spoilers, of course?
If you like: THEOLOGY (Pangram), GEOLOGY, OTOLOGY and TELEOLOGY, the last of which was the one I was pleased to think of.
I got all but the third, but I think I deserve credit for knowing the other two I mentioned.
I was just trying to think of ologies I could try. I didn’t even know what teleology was at the time. And I was pleased I remembered to try gelee, which I missed in earlier days.
The word that gave me the most trouble today was HOTLY. TELEOLOGY and GELEE I got quickly, but I looked at the puzzle on and off for 12 hours before that one last word dawned on me.
What the hell’s wrong with GROINING?
Also: no GRUNION, a fish known for its sensuality.
Ha! Came to say GRUNION, learned the naughty bits.
Apparently Sam is not an Anthony Burgess fan: they didn’t take DROOG.
Well, that’s not HORRORSHOW.
No OPAH.
This DANGED puzzle doesn’t even allow DANGED.
Annoyed me, too.
No MOOK or GOMMAGE today but honestly I’m not too bothered about the omission of either.
Otherwise fairly straightforward apart from the pangram which was probably the hardest word of the bunch.
And thankfully no MAGA either.
And no MEGACOCK either, weirdly.
