One of the words I frequently miss is NONILLION, so it surprised me that today’s Spelling Bee did not accept NONILLIONTH.
Yeah, annoying especially given today’s Pangram.
Ah, thanks for reminding me. I knew something bugged me in today’s Bee.
NONILLIONTH was disallowed the first time it appeared in 2018, then was accepted three times through 2020, and has been banned ever since. Today is the first time it would have been a Pangram.
Not a pangram - no R.
That kind of thing won’t happen. Except in the case of spelling variations, either a word is composed of 7 different letters, in which case it would always be a pangram, or it’s not. Can’t be a pangram some times and not others.
Ha ha, whoops, that was nonsensical. My bad.
How do you come up with this information?
Well, the last sentence was disinformation, but the rest from here. There’s a ‘history’ tab that lets you search for individual words.
Still slogging through today’s lengthy offering - 50-some words and still not to Genius yet.
But why no PLAICE?
Yeah, I tried that. Apparently he doesn’t like that, or a certain kind of boat.
It’s definitely a slog, I might not finish it.
I agree that today’s Spelling Bee is more of a slog than fun. Only my need to complete things is getting me through it.
At 55 words, but just barely Genius. Long ways to go for QB.
I will note that PINEAL gland(word I’ve complained about before, if that helps anyone) is accepted this time, although ANILINE is still not.
Finally finished, helped by considering words appearing in previous puzzles. Needed a clue for the last word (which was also the least-found one overall), which I did not know.
But yeah - not much fun today.
Also not accepting PINNA (outer part of the ear), which I think I’ve mentioned before. Strange about PLAICE, given Sam’s fascination with food.
Yes, annoyed here too by the omission of PINNA, ANILINE and PLAICE, as well as the type of boat. And it took me 56 words to get to Genius, even with 3 pangrams found.
48 words with three pangrams and I’m not close. I may just give up. It’s getting late.
I’m sorry, but both tattily and tinnily are words.
I finished yesterday’s at 0 dark 30 this morning. Many words that exist weren’t in yesterday’s or today’s Bee.The last week or so has been mostly tedious.
Today was by far the quickest trip to Genius of all time
It was certainly a fast trip. UN- and -ING are so uninspiring though.
