NYT Spelling Bee drives me crazy

Reminder to spoiler the day’s answers.

It’s weird; two days ago, when the pangram was fidgety and today, where it’s complete, I finished the puzzle relatively quickly and without hints. But yesterday, when it was loading, I struggled and needed hints for far too many of the last few words.

I had a lot of trouble with yesterday’s puzzle, too. Today was much better.

Friday’s was another quick run, despite the absence of would-be-pangram GROOVILY.

Yeah, Instant pangram and easy peasy finish.

Yeah, it harshed my buzz that they didn’t accept GROOVILY. I got to Genius fairly easily, then looked at the hints and realized I’d somehow missed GIRL!

Actually, it took me too long to land on the pangram (virology) today.

Sometimes it is that way.

I was really stumped on the pangram for a long time, probably because I was looking for an adverb (-LY or -ILY) not a field of science.

I shuffled the letters a few times, and one of those times, the pangram just popped right up.

Same. It wasn’t until near the end that that occurred to me

Some puzzles are fun to do, some puzzles feel like work. Today felt like work, but I got the job done.

Same. Only just finished after remembering one thing I have in my garden and one thing I have in my fridge.

Anyone else surprised that ANTITHETIC and HENTAI were excluded?

Not to mention ACTINIC. And quite a few other words.

It wouldn’t accept ain’t, despite its ubiquitous use in everyday speech. Today’s puzzle gave me a lot of trouble for some reason and I had to resort to the hints.

He doesn’t use words with hyphens or apostrophes.

Yeah, I had to go to the hints for this one, and tried both ANTITHETIC and ACTINIC (point of order, do we really need to spoiler words that aren’t accepted?). Kicked myself to realize I’d missed NINE and all the various derivatives thereof.

No, unless they’re related to words that are accepted. Those two were not, so no need to spoiler them.

As the OP my own opinion is that nothing needs to be spoilered, but the thread has evolved beyond my initial rant and I’d be kinda a jerk to enforce that preference.
