NYT Spelling Bee drives me crazy

Of these, to me, only dado is a relatively common word.

NATANT comes up a lot, so it’s not unreasonable to expect the noun form too.

I had tried both dado and pion before, but you never know.

Has anyone else noticed in the past few days that sometimes one of the hexagons enclosing a letter will be slightly smaller than the others, leading to a larger white border between it and the adjoining hexagons? It seems to happen randomly, although I began to wonder if it might be some form of hint. If so, I haven’t cracked the code.

I play the game on a Samsung Android tablet. My wife didn’t notice it on her iPad, and I haven’t looked for it on my Windows laptop.

Yes ..

What device(s) do you use?

Yes, on an Android phone.

iPhone, iPad Mini and Windows laptop. I don’t recall which device(s) had the issue

Huh - hasn’t happened on my android as yet.

Yes, a couple of days ago on my iPad. Not today, though.

I saw that odd hexagon thing too, for a few days on my phone (Android), but not today.

Anyone else find today’s game a quick run to Queen Bee?

Now that we are looking for it, it won’t happen again.

A very quick run to Genius but I am still a little short of QB (12 points). I’ll take another look later.

Quick to Genius. I rarely go for Queen Bee unless I’m stuck in a waiting room or something.

Yes! Helped make up for some of my recent brain glitches.

I am just so sick of Sam’s obscure cuisine terms, like today’s CALLALOO and COLCANNON. Also LLANO.

I realize at least two of them have appeared before, but they still piss me off.

I just imagine him living in Manhattan, going to fancy-schmancy restaurants and saying, “What do you mean? Doesn’t everyone know callaloo? I have it all the time!”

Today was notable because the center letter wasn’t the first letter of any words. Normally it’s the most common Has that happened before?

CALLALOO is very popular in the Caribbean. Probably not to be found in schmancy NYC restaurants.

And yet he never accepts AKEE/ACKEE. Go figure.

My office cafeteria was serving this yesterday, funnily enough. It is not a schmancy dish, being basically mashed potatoes and cabbage.
