I wagered all of $1 and drew Eskimo Queen in the office sweep.

Didn’t even go in a sweep or watch the race this year. I’m over it, seeing their reaction to the equine flu thing makes it clear the whole racing industry are spoilt little babies and in any case they make their living off the misery of los^h^h^hpunters. No more.

Is this the equivalent of the Triple Crown and/or the Kentucky Derby?

The Melbourne Cup, run every year on the first Tuesday in November.

The minor hierarchy has 2 clauses in his contract that are obvious:

  1. Has every Melbourne Cup day off

  2. Has every Wednesday off to play golf

I was watching the build-up to it, just before the race, and saw them parading the cup itself in front of the crowds, and that’s when I realised…

…that it’s just a stupid fucking horse race.

Since it is fairly obvious NZ is having it’s crappiest year ever in sport EVER (yes the Aussies will win the netball!) I’m ever so glad an equine has saved us from losing EVERYTHING!

(though I’m sure Efficient is an Aussie horse by now)

I’m spewing i lost $10 had 5 on number 2 & 3 each for a win.
Oh well at least it was a 4day weekend!

Actually, I just got so busy in the city today I couldn’t be stuffed sloshing through our lovely Auckland rainy November puddles to head up Victoria Street to the TAB.

Now, I wonder how long it will take the NZ trainers to get their horses home after the Victorian quarantine period. With all that equine influenza outbreak, they’re lucky to have had the race at all.
