O = Othello!

I just saw this last night. Don’t know weather I liked it or hated it. Gave me something to think about though.

Having read the orignal Shakespeare play, I loved how the movie had almost all of the play’s characters fitted into the modern movie.
Briefly, the one’s I noticed:
Hugo - Iago
Odin - Othello
Desi - Desdemona
Michael Casio - Cassio
Emily - Emilia
Roger - Roderigo
Dean - Brabantio

I wasn’t quite sure what to make of the Coach. He didn’t seem to fit in any of the roles in the play.

It was an interesting movie. It made me think. Alas, I don’t think I can recommend it. A very unique movie-going experience, if nothing else.

The Coach equates to the Duke of Venice. Awesome movie, very thought-provoking, and it’s wonderful to see a teen-oriented movie that actually has something to say. I saw “O” last night – I was one of only three people watching it, though “American Pie 2” was packed. There is no justice in this world.

Well, I plan to see it. I might not catch it in theaters though, since I can’t seem to find a local one playing it, which doubly proves there is no justice in this world.

You know what I like though? Julia Stiles is sort of becoming the young female equivelent to Kenneth Branagh. This is her third Shakespearian role (10 Things I Hate About You- which was an adaptation of Taming of The Shrew- and Hamlet before this)already and she’s barely 20 years old. She’s also been great in every other movie I’ve seen her in, but still, it’s nice that WS is getting more movies based on his plays.
