O' Reilly and you

Whatever you do…don’t click this link.

Oh, I just had an idea for a reality show. Get all former politicians with sex scandals together in a house occupied with really hot strippers and see whom lasts longest without having sex (definition of sex to be worked out later). It would be like the Seinfeld masturbation episode! I’d tune into that one.

I feel really sorry for O’Reilly’s wife. I felt kind of sorry for her even before all of this happened, but she must be cringing with embarassment right now.

Or is she playing the “stand by your man” card?

Apparently the alleged sexual harassment occurred some time ago. I find it interesting that this came up right before our presidential elections to someone who has a considerable amt. of influence to the voting public.

My point is that the Plaintiff could have hung up the phone; could have said: Bill, I’d prefer thiat you cease and desist.

How many married men AND women out their have secretly fantasized about another person when they are having sex?..other than the person that they are currently having sex with?

The guy was playing out a fantasy, but fortunately or unfortunately as you prefer, this happenstance will haunt him for the rest of his life.

Good.

Um, I read the entire lawsuit at thesmokinggun, and it claims that his harassment (i.e. making lewd phone conversations and severe threats if she tried to do anything about it) was going on as recently as August of this year.

And let me join the chorus. I hope that there’s a month-long jury trial. I hope that every sleazy details gets dragged out on every blog on the internet. I hope that the public hears the tapes. This is the Iliad and Odyssey of poetic justice.

Well, I’ve got no idea exactly what the allegations consist of, and if they turn out to be true and bad enough, by all means, string him up (although I have a hard time fathoming $60 M actually being appropriate).

But I think that the board’s inclination to fuck him over at all costs seems a little wierd, and perhaps unwaranted. Sure, there’s plenty of things to criticise about him, and I think he’s a media whore/hack, but things like this just aren’t true:

He’s stated many times that he actually opposes the death penalty in the United States because he doesn’t believe that it can be fairly applied in our current justice system. Which, IMHO, is a pretty reasonable and non-partisan view.

Can someone point me to something that summarizes the allegations/evidence fully without having to wade through a full 250 page lawsuit? Thanks.

He says he opposes the desth penalty because it isn’t brutal enough, not because it gets applied unfairly. He wants chain gangs and hard labor. He thinks people don’t suffer enough in gas chambers.

Just read the complaint at TSG. It’s only 22 pages (and they’re short pages). All of the transcripts are there and remember that O’Reilly is not disputing anything that Mackris alleges that he said.

Ummm, that wasn’t my understanding, but I’m willing to concede that you may be right. Cite?

Well, if I had known he was going to get all kinky with Al Franken, I would have read it in the first place…

I wouldn’t know how to search for a cite on the Death Penalty thing. I only know I’ve heard him say that about a thousand times on his show.

I don’t watch O’Reilly alot but when I do (maybe 2-3x a month) he is always calling for someone to be punished when something goes wrong.

"So here’s the better way. Killers, rapists, drug kingpins and terrorists should all be subjected to life in prison without parole in a federal work camp. This special prison system would be run military style and be located on federal land in Alaska. It would be in effect a gulag.

Here the worst criminals in the country would be banished and forced to labor eight hours a day, six days a week in the harsh climate. They would be denied television, computers, exercise equipment (as if they’d need it) and most other “comfort” items. Their mail would be screened, and they would only be allowed a few visitors per year.

If the criminal did not cooperate with the work detail, his food rations would be cut, and he would be placed in solitary confinement."
He also supports the idea because it is revocable

“And one more thing. The work camp sentence is revocable. If a terrible mistake is made and the convict turns out to be innocent, the convict is still alive. The mistake can be undone. No system is perfect – but why kill people when you can sentence them in a more punitive way?”

I think spending 10 years in a slave labor camp would do more mental damage than 10 years on death row. There is a reason we have tons and tons of appeals here in the US.

So while his show is “no spin,” his butt is “vibrating preferred?” Hey, that’s usefull information. If you’re ever on his show, instead of framing a cogent, logical argument that would only be shouted-down anyway, you can just look at him and go “brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…”

As for the complaint, I dunno. Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas. This guy talks shit to people for a living, and as his producer she fed bodies into his woodchipper. So she should be suprised that he treats people like shit on his own time?

You mean he is no longer undecided? He is finally admitting that he’s voting for Kerry? This is yet another Bush plot? <snort>

One thing that really disturbs me is an interview with the private investigator that O’Reilly has hired. He made it very clear that they are going to try to destroy the young woman. I believe that he actually used the word destroy. If O’Reilly is wanting to portray himself as the victim, that isn’t the way to do it.

Fox is also trying to find a way to fire her legally.

Tell me you’re fucking kidding. It’s called harassment for a reason.

This board’s about fighting ignorance, and O’Reilly is one of the biggest peddlers of ignorance around. What’s so surprising?

Oh, don’t worry. As O’Reily said: someday someone is going to show up at her front door, and her life as she knows it will change. That’ll happen.

No i’m not kidding. I personally do not care that much if a person sexually harasses someone in their private life. Threatening one’s victims to protect yourself is totally different though.

Harrassment is stupid, it is abusive of another person, and it is a crime. If all of this accusation is true, O’Reilly should be one of the first to go to a pilot program work camp, exactly like the one described right here in this thread.
