Obama and the A word.

An obscure figure named Jesse Helms.

The word “halfrican” is sometimes used, or they’ll say he’s “channelling Reverend Wright.” Often racism is (as here, sometimes) invoked by reversal, accusing Obama’s white supporters of feel-good racism, or saying Obama only mentioned his grandmother in his speech last night because she’s white – see this thread. (Very long, you’ll have to do some searching; go to around 600 where Obama starts his speech.)

Of course, they hit the “Muslim” canard a whole lot harder.

As pointed out there were ones on Clinton, but that’s not the point. The point is that at this time threats and violence from the left in this country are an aberration; from the right they are common.

Calling a political group - a group people choose to be part of - notorious for being scummy, ruthless, amoral, dishonest, bigoted, corrupt, and so on less moral isn’t hate speech. It’s simply acknowledging reality. You are simply using the standard right wing tactic of demanding that I pretend that liberal and conservative are moral equals; I’m refusing to go along. Calling bad people bad people isn’t hate speech.
