Obama Executive Actions on Guns

I think I need a gun. Am I a fucking nut case? Is my head up my ass?

And as much as I appreciate transparent efforts to wrap the message in the dead bodies of children, it’s poor decision making to craft public policy based on rare tragedies.

This should be about Obama’s Executive Actions. General gun issues should be over there —>

Chickenlegs, can you share a link to the list please?

Cherry pick, because comparing the US of A to Somalia, Uzbekistan and Croatia isn’t exactly apples to apples. Germany, France, Japan, Canada and other developed markets is probably a better measure. Again, without the numbers, it’s just cherry picked conclusions. Thanks for playing.

This one?

Thanks for the link. Here are the 10 countries before and after the USA. None of these are close to developed nations. And includes such wonderful countries as North Korea, Cuba, Niger, Ukraine and Iran. It’s unclear to me why it’s such an accomplishment for the US to be in this club?

Laos
Argentina
North Korea
Mauritania
Thailand
Moldova
Estonia
Albania
Yemen
Niger
United States
Latvia
Micronesia
Georgia
Ukraine
Solomon Islands
Cuba
Tuvalu
Fiji
Aruba (Netherlands)
Iran

What I want to know is how that is in any way relevant to Obama’s Executive Actions.

Because Andiethewestie used this clearly false justification to support gun control, as advocated by president Obama:

“Disgraceful that thousands upon thousands die in the US and no where else in these kind numbers just pile up like they do in the United States.”

Automatic weapons ban is gun grabbing? Seriously? We are miles apart if that’s the case. I get that the NRA views everything as a slippery slope. But there’s a middle ground between being able to freely buy full automatic weapons at the neighborhood 7-11 (or parking lot) without any kind of background check/oversight, and accommodating “lawful” gun owners.

Again, it’s the slippery slope and the slippery slope fallacy and neither the twain shall meet…

Do you honestly believe you can legally buy fully-automatic weapons without a background check in the United States?

If so, you’re not only miles apart from JXJohns, you’re miles part from reality.

How bout you follow one of my links and try again. Nowhere are automatic weapons mentioned.

Yes, I saw that. I interpreted that as facile bemoaning of the perceived state of affairs, not any specific criticism or praise of anything. In that vein its relation to the Executive Actions seem tenuous at best. I’d just as soon as disregard this type of content free comment. That’s just me though.

He did call you a “fucking nut case” though.

I know he wasn’t referring to me - I can hardly be characterized as “fucking” lately. Not for lack of trying, though.

Is AWS automatic weapons? if not please correct me.

As noted in the links provided, AWs are “assault weapons”. Semi auto rifles with cosmetic features that turn them from hunting and sporting rifles to “military grade” something or another.

Automatic weapons are already quite regulated.

Thanks JXJohns. As a non 2nd amendment enthusiast, it is difficult to keep up with the correct terminology. And I don’t mean that in a snarky way. And there are some 2nd amendment enthusiasts that get their panties in a twist on the subtle meaning of “this” versus “that” and might even have an opinion on whether capitalization of “amendment” vs “Amendment” has some sort of overt vs subvert meaning? When I’m just having trouble with my keyboard.

Is it correct to say that AW’s are simply “scary” looking combat M16 kinda lookalikes? These are still semi auto, correct? Not full auto? And then may have something like a bayonet, flashlight or “big” magazine options that magically make these from basic “long guns” into “scary looking but not military grade” long guns, is that correct?

In other words, “assault weapons” in this case really means jack shit and are not comparable to US military grade firearms? (Gawd, *if *this is the case, the sheeple really are focused on a rathole rather than trying to address something that might actually make a difference…)

Yes, that is what Assault Weapons (AWs) are. The same types of firearms that Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Feinstein, Bloomberg, Brady, etc. want to ban. The same types of firearms that are already banned in California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York. Those sheeple? This is the type of ban that they refer to as “common sense”.

You are correct in all aspects of this post. I also apologize for any snark.

(Post shortened)

Your problem is a lack of understanding. You’re entitled to your opinion but you don’t have the votes to make your dream come true. The 2nd Amendment exists and you don’t have the votes to change that. Obama has addressed the situation several times but doesn’t have the votes to change the situation. Now Obama has been forced to resort to feel good baby steps because he doesn’t have the votes to ban, register, or confiscate firearms in whole, or in part.

Firearms are inanimate objects. They’re not going to jump up and hurt you. People be dangerous. People with bombs, cars, trucks, box cutters, and airplanes can be dangerous. Mentally desturbed monsters should be indentified and then treated, medicated, or housed where they can’t hurt anyone, including themselves.

During the LA riots, the LAPD was overwhelmed and prioritized their resources to protect wealthy suburban neighborhoods while abandoning places like Koreatown in downtown LA. Consequently, half of Koreatown burned down the first night. Then the Korean shopkeepers brought guns and stood watch from their rooftops. Not a single business burned down in Koreatown the next night while the rest of the city burned.

Your problem is that you don’t understand the problem and don’t really care to. You just KNOW that the problem is guns and you KNOW what the solution is too. but if anyone asks you what you know, all you can do is gargle.

You sound a bit culturally elitist.

Virtually every south American country has a higher murder rate than the USA. Are these all undeveloped nations?

How about Russia?

With that said, we do have high levels of violence and murder and maybe guns have something to do with that. maybe they don’t but its not as clear as you seem to think.

It is posts like these that make you seem ignorant and lets everyone ignore you with impunity.
