I understand the pretense of a point. It’s nonethess a pretense, and it doesn’t alter the fact that it’s ridiculous to bitch about Obama killing too many high value terrorists. The first piece actually said that killing too many al Qaeda leaders is “putting the country at risk.” If you can’t see how absurd that sounds, then I’m not going to be able to explain it any better.
I reject the pretense (“we should capture and torture them instead”) as fraudulent and contrived. It’s not a complaint these assholes would make if a Republican President was doing it.
Yeesh Dio. They are making an argument. If you think it’s a bad argument, then argue against it. Explain why you think it’s not a bad thing that these terrorists are being killed rather than captured.
It’s rather stupid to just ignore the fact that they are making an argument by calling it a “pretense.” This is what makes this a circle jerk thread–you don’t wanna actually argue against anything, you just want to get all the lefties riled up so you can revel in all the spooge flying around. Even asserting that it is a bad argument without arguing against it would be a step up, but you can’t even do that.
It’s not an ingenuous argument. It’s a pretext to attack Obama. I see no need to spend much time debating a pretext, though I actually did explain why it was nonsense in post #6. It’s really not worth any more words than I gave it.
Assuming you’re being serious, Capturing the ones we should be killing doesn’t make sense.
Even in war the only reason you kill anyone without trial is supposed to be because you have to – it’s not Unreal Tournament.

I’m gathering that this was the excuse that Thiessen heard in the Bush White House while Al Queda in Afghanistan was more or less ignored and potential members tortured to try to implicate Iraq.
They are our enemies, and those that don’t want to come in and offer information need to be killed as quickly and completely as possible.
The Bush people didn’t do this and ignored Afghanistan in general because there was oil to secure the contracts for drilling in Iraq.
You would think that if Al Queda were something more than a Blackwater op, that maybe they would target the individual neo-cons advancing the policies that they supposedly object to, rather than civilians. How much easier would it be for Al Queda to find out where these individual enemies lived in the United States and send in a hit team to kill the guy in his home along with his family. Like what Charles Manson did. That terrorized a whole state. But these neo-cons walk around on the street and go about their lives with virtually no protection. They are in no greater danger from Al Queda than the average on the street American. Why is that?
It is because the neo-cons are not their enemy. Despite the fact that all the policies they oppose are neo-con policies. The American people are their enemy.
In summary, Al Queda is a Blackwater operation to justify stealing oil and raiding the American treasury.
