Obama picks Biden for VP. Your thoughts?

No she wouldn’t.

No way she’d take it. It would be funny though…Obama would still win and she’d have permanently tarnished her career, or bolstered it who knows in Washington…

It’s a great story, but the power of Sparta had already been destroyed by Epaminondas and the Thebans at Leuktra. Sparta was safely ignored by both Philip and his son, Alexander. They did not even have to stoop to conquer it.

What disappoints me about Biden is that it’s such a weenie move. To me it indicates that Obama is starting to kowtow to the party leaders instead of making unique, thoughtful decisions based on something, ANYthing but “He’s who the party leaders wanted.” I simply cannot believe that it was Obama’s first choice, and that disturbs me.

I was disheartened when Obama back-pedaled on the off-shore drilling issue because it showed a lack of conviction. I want a leader who will lead, not change his mind depending on what the most recent poll said. Yeah, 80% of Americans favor off-shore drilling. If you say you’re an environmentalist, then act like an environmentalist.

I am so sick of the red/blue polarization in this country and was really hoping that Obama would pick a centrist. Biden as the nominee to me is simply business as usual. He’s been a good Democrat for years and it’s payback time.

Blech.

Obama is the party leader. The party mostly does what he wants and not the other way around. Especially with all the media and cash that Obama can control and use to get Democrats elected into Congress. Obama made the choice himself.

It has less to do with Biden being a good Democrat and more to do with Obama needing working class white votes and foreign policy experience.

And just because he is a long time democrat doesn’t meant that he is polarizing. He is far from an extreme leftist. I don’t think anyone remembers what one looks like anymore.

Don’t underestimate the power of the machine. I believe Hillary withdrew her nomination at the urging of the Democratic leadership (in order to quit dividing the Democratic base). I also believe they wanted Biden on the ticket, for the reasons you mentioned. I don’t believe for one second that Biden was Obama’s first choice.

The Democrats can’t put together a decent Presidential campaign to save their lives. Instead of playing up the “fresh start” notion, they’re reverting back to their “Play it safe at all costs” campaign strategy. The same strategy that lost them the last two elections against a very weak candidate.

And McCain isn’t nearly as weak a candidate as George Bush.

:smack:

In 2004, The Onion ran an article about “John Kerry Unveils One-Point Plan for His Presidency.” The one point was George Bush not being President.

Like all good humour, it was rooted in truth. Kerry seemed to have no other point.

Sadly, Obama’s hinting at making the same stupid mistake. **If you don’t give people reasons to vote for you, they won’t. ** “Hope” is not a reason.

Don’t underestimate the golden rule. The one with the gold makes all the rules. Obama brings in all the money. He is the one making all the rules. If anyone doesn’t fall in line, he can just withhold funds.

When you are ahead it makes sense to play it safe, but I don’t like it either. There is still time to hope that he’ll change course.

Speaking as a Limey so I’m pretty ignorant of U.S. politics(Though at least I am neutral) isn’t it a fact that unless the POTUS drops dead from a heart attack the V.P. is pretty much a non entity?

And for all the racists out there …get a Black President and then all the African Americans can’t keep complaining about they haven’t got on in life because they’ve been discriminated against!

Sorry mate the POTUS is Black so your complaint is unfounded.

Also,KKK members everywhere let Islam O’Bama become president and then when he fucks it all up,which he will do because he’s BLACK ! then you can sleep safe at nights because you will know that never again will a member of an inferior race will ever be considered for president.
