Salon reads the Dope! Yes!!!
How do you spend 2 million hiding records? Who do you give the money to? Do you have to bribe doctors and nurses at the hospital too? that was 50 years ago. Does anyone think natal nurses and doctors should remember every birth, even after 5 decades? Do you have to get the newspapers to erase the records of his birth that appeared in the papers? That seems like a lot of money for a clerk in the records department.
If it went to lawyers, what did they do with the money? The story just makes no sense at all.
Yes.
That is the hallmark of conspiratorial thinking: “There are no accidents, no mistakes, no misstatements, and no random occurrences. Everything that happens (relative to the event of interest) is deliberate and part of a great conspiracy.”
You see it every time Moon landing deniers go pixel-by-pixel analysing pictures taken on or of the Moon. You see it every time 9/11 ‘Truthers’ put the confused early reports of car bombs at the Pentagon under the microscope to deny a plane could possibly have hit the building. That is what those people do: They not only miss the forest for the trees, they use small ‘imperfections’ in the bark to deny the forest exists at all.
The majority of the birther cases have come since he’s been in office, and he spends virtually nothing on them because he doesn’t defend them: the Department of Justice does. Even given that, DoJ lawyers say the cost or work put in hasn’t been all that great, which makes sense given that every single lawsuit Orly Taitz files is disposed of in summary judgment.
I think we should clarify who the birthers are.
Last year, I was required by the state in which I live to provide proof of U.S. citizenship to get a “Real I.D.” driver’s license. This was in compliance with a new State law.
–I had to produce a stamped and certified copy of my birth certificate (not a facsimile; not a certificate of live birth) from the state in which I was born, which I did. I had to prove I lived at the address where I live, and I had to prove my P.O. box was as I gave it. Had I failed to produce a birth certificate in the manner the State found acceptable, no driver’s license.
–I’ve had to get a new passport twice in my life. In both cases, I was required to produce a certified copy of my birth certificate, not a copy of a newspaper article announcing my birth (which I could have done, along with dated letters from my grandmother celebrating the blessed event). I would not have been issued a passport without that certified copy of my birth certificate.
I didn’t particularly like the inconvenience required to get a state drivers license and a U.S. Passport, but I complied. I would have put no effort whatsoever into trying to avoid compliance. Why bother? Why buy the trouble? Had there been a documentation “issue,” I’m sure both agencies would have worked with me to resolve it unequivocally and finally.
So, what part of requiring a President of the United States to provide this same, basic documentation of citizenship is a political dirty trick that someone is unfairly pulling on him? There are no UFO’s, no secret SR-71 flights to Paris, nor conspiracies to bomb buildings involved.
I don’t “Get” this. I don’t understand any White House resistance, let alone a need to find “sources” of documentation for birther claims of it; I don’t understand the anger of Obama supporters at the simple insistance on the same compliance that ordinary Americans make every day. The Government of the United States is the First Birther.
Just provide full documentation, as I did to get my drivers license and passport, as thousands of Americans do every day to get all sorts of basic documents in this country. Then we can all move on without clenched jaws over it.
He provided that same, basic documentation.
He provided that same, basic documentation.
He provided that same, basic documentation.
He provided that same, basic documentation.
He provided that same, basic documentation.
Why don’t Birthers get this?
Because, despite all that, he’s still black.
A Certificate of Live Birth was more than sufficient for me to get a driver’s license, a passport, a job with the Federal Government which required a security clearance…
I’m convinced the driving factors in all this is Obama’s, his funny name, and the fact he spent time out of the country among all those damn furriner’s instead of real Christian 'mericans! I just find it hard to believe that people can be so stupid that they genuinely believe he hasn’t proven his citizenship yet. He has. It’s over with. Done.
I didn’t expect that.
No one expects the Spanish broadcasting station! Amongst our weaponry are such diverse elements as: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope, and easy listening top 40 on the AM dial. Oh, damn!
I’ll come in again.
DJ Fang, bring me…the soft rock!
Yes, I understand the issue is settled in your mind, but that doesn’t change objective facts.
Were President Obama an ordinary citizen, he would not have been issued a driver’s license in my state, nor issued a U.S. passport, on the basis of the documentation he has provided. Unless all news media are wrong, he has not produced a certified copy of his birth certificate, the ordinary standard required of all Americans by government to certify citizenship.
One state official says Obama has a full birth certificate, but they can’t find it. One claimed he had seen it, then recanted. The bottom line is that a certified document is not on the table for inspection, as was required of me; the issue is not resolved. If the President doesn’t have full documentation of birth to the ordinary standard required by federal and state government agencies he should admit this openly and work honestly to resolve the issue and answer all questions.
The accusation of racism as hidden motive for insisting on full documentation of U.S. birth for a United States president is becoming, I’m happy to say, noteworthy only as a passing comment on the bitter, fight-to-the-last-ditch passions aroused by this easily resolved case.
The only “birther” here is the standard of documentation required by the United States Government to prove citizenship, a standard with which ordinary Americans comply every day. That standard is what you need to demand exception from, or to attack, insult, and discredit.
The document that was scanned and placed online by the Obama campaign is a certified copy of his birth certificate. The state of Hawaii says it is valid; that makes it valid in every single state and to the federal government. There is no qualifications commission that vets presidential candidates’ citizenship, but this is true for every single person who has ever ran for the presidency.
The document that Barack Obama possesses is legally identical to a so-called “full birth certificate.” The state of Hawaii says so; the Constitution says that their word on that matter is binding law everywhere in the country.
And I still don’t understand why the discussion persists, ad infi-freaking-nitum, past this simple, clear-as-day point. What is everyone looking for?
Do you mean Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie?
That’s been debunked.
You are absolutely, 100%, completely wrong about this. You are believing the lies of the right-wing news machine. They are lying to you. He has produced a certified copy of his birth certificate. There’s no question about it. It is true. You have been misled if you believe otherwise, which you apparantly do.
Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.
This is his valid birth certificate. It is the exact form (the information varies, but the form itself doesn’t) that every person born in Hawaii receives when they request a copy. It IS the valid Hawaii birth certificate.
As the OP I asked people not to debate the birth certificate. There is no debate about it.
And the specifics wei ji said about it are refuted by the birth certificate itself.
Do you see what is printed at the bottom in bold lettering?
That also means that none of the idiotic laws about the need for producing a birth certificate in the 2012 election will affect this in the slightest. In any court proceeding. Trump and mate, to coin a phrase.
Now stop the lies, the facts that never were true, the upside-down interpretations, the irrelevant procedures from other states and other times, and anything else that goes to this conspiracy theory.
The McCain campaign spent in excess of $40 million dollars to defeat Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton spent even more than that in the Democratic primary, to say nothing of the many, many millions of dollars the remaining 15 or so serious candidates spent trying their utmost to get elected President of the United States. Despite these multimillion dollar expenditures, not a single one of those candidates made a serious effort to challenge Obama’s eligibilty to hold the office. Think they forgot?
Yes, he has. Please provide evidence he hasn’t.
