Obama Stands With Mexican Prez, Against Az Law

That racism is finding renewed footing and legitimacy in America? Oh, we get it.

I’m not even expressing an opinion regarding Obama’s comments, or the AZ law. I’m merely pointing out that it’s completely asinine to claim that criticizing a state law you disagree with makes you Un-American.

Criticizing laws we dislike is what makes us American in the first place.

And yes, if something happens in November that removes Obama from the Presidency I will in fact be surprised. :wink:

OOoooooo! I LOVE surprises! What will it be??? Tell me, tell me!

Man…I never get ‘it’. :frowning: I guess that means no surprise for me, ehe?

Wasn’t there national legislation passed recently that was subject of the hue and cry of the sundry and many? Reason for protest and bearing arms, and the catalyst for at least 10 proposed lawsuits, all due ot disagreements with its source? Can’t for the life of me remember what it was all about though.

ETA: C3 (and Jas09), if you mirror me one more time . . . .

If he told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise, now would it?

Of that I think there is a chance of. But this is a message board, where you have to convince people based on actual logic rather than flamboyant handwaving.

Oh yes, I think we do get it. This is a continuation of the Repubs’ Southern strategy, though this time it’s racism against Hispanics rather than racism against Blacks that’s being exploited. Yes, we’ll see in November if it’s working or not: I’ll concede that I’m afraid that it might work for some people, but I’m hopeful that enough will find it distasteful enough to cause a backlash against the Repubs.

First in for the win!

And this would not be neccessary if the federal government did a better job of enforcing the border against people crossing it illegally and of the other ways people come to to stay here illegally like over staying student and tourist visas etc.

Ya know…people like you make it really not fun to be a conservative around this place.

Me too!

Wait - we don’t have to share, do we? I don’t like sharing.

My pony!

No…no, it is not what makes us American.

However, I encourage you to express this opinion every chance you get, preferably in the most public forum possible. Write a letter to the editor of your local paper. Make sure you do it in late October. Try to work in how Obama and the Democratic Party believe that being American is fundamentally all about dissent. Do you live in a district with a contested House seat? Cause that would be awesome.

Don’t worry, you can both have a pony.

Don’t worry about it, man - I’d be amazed if you were even from the same planet as the OP, let alone the same sort of conservative.

But, since you are a conservative - do you know what the November surprise is? Is it a pony or a robot? I hope it’s a robot!

No sharing is required. I’ll simply cut the pony in two, and you each will be given half of it.

<draws sword with dramatic flourish>

<approaches poor defenseless pony>

<raises sword>

<pauses…>

Well, at least he didn’t bow to the guy.

It’s State over Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl…for the second year in a row. GO STATE!

And we won’t do either one for the same reason; we don’t actually want to hamper illegal immigration; we want them to come here illegally because that makes them easier to exploit. And this isn’t about illegal immigration anyway. It’s about racism.

See, I’m not really even a conservative, and neither are a lot of people who support the AZ law. I’ve voted Democratic all my life, although I couldn’t quite bring myself to pull the lever either way in '08.

Further proof that you don’t get it.

Heh. The founding fathers seem to have disagreed with you - many of them threatened not to ratify the Constitution unless it incorporated a bill of rights, with freedom of speech, religion, and the press front and foremost. That seems to suggest peaceful dissent and debate is a core American value.

But I’ll bite - what does make us American? Is it our love of ponies?
