Obama to appear on Mythbusters!

In order to promote math and science education President Obama will appear on a December episode of Mythbusters.

Too cool!!!

Didn’t they already do the setting-fire-to-ships-using-mirrors myth a couple of years ago?

Am I the only one whose first thought was, “Is he going to have them analyze a birth certificate?”

They’ve done the Archimedes thing twice already. They tested it and busted it, and then investigated further by having MIT students and other people try to design their own versions. Again, the myth was busted. It’s a cool myth and it’s one that might appeal to kids, so I can see why Obama is using it as part of a way to encourage kids to get into science, but I’m not sure what they’re going to do with it a third time. Maybe they’ll get some DoD firepower this time, or work in some principles from the Vdara “death ray” hotel in Vegas. Props to Obama on the geekiness, though.

That might be more fun.

I think they did it in their first season, even…

And then they’ll blow it up.

They’ll test out the myth of whether or not he’s really a secret Muslim. And they’ll bust some death panel myths, using high grade explosives of course.

Thus closing the loop on the cover up! Someone call Glen Beck!

Today is the White House Science Fair. Obama mentioned Adam and Jamie as well as Bill Nye in his remarks, and said he’d taped an appearance on Mythbusters. He said he was frustrated he didn’t get to blow anything up. I sat there thinking “Uh, you’re in charge of the military.” I guess that doesn’t compare to blowing up a cement mixer.

Oh man, if Bill Nye somehow appeared on Mythbusters with Obama I’d have a geek-girl meltdown.

My kids are HUGE Mythbusters fans and when we were in San Francisco this summer, we just HAD to drive by their warehouse. They are all excited to see goofy Adam interact with the president.

So, the “Obama is a secret Muslim” myth is busted, but what would happen if we strapped this suicide vest of C4 to a ballistic gel replica of him sitting inside a mock Oval Office?

Personally, I think this is appalling. It seriously lowers the tone of the national dialog and is beneath the dignity…

…of the Mythbusters.

Maybe he’ll talk about the legal implications of Einstein’s theory of relativity.

They’re going to try to impregnate a woman by shooting his testicle into her.

Nope. I thought they were going to bust the myth that he can walk on water.

There was a major controversy surrounding announcement of this re-revisit, so here’s the explanation of what’s different this time:

So the revisit is… you know, for kids. Adam’s suggestion about a new Archimedes myth is more interesting.

Maybe he will demonstrate how an actor reading from a teleprompter can masquerade as a president?

We already spent 16 year busting that one with Reagan and Bush II. It doesn’t work. All it does is destroy the economy and let the nutballs run wild.

Meh. I’d rather see them retest the rocket car myth.
