Picking up on small semantic differences and declaring victory only gets you a victory in your own mind. Everyone else stands around and wonders whether you have a point you want to make.
As far as I know, only UNESCO has recognized a Palestinian state. The Palestinians abandoned the official statehood push (for now) when they discovered it would be voted down by the Security Council - without any use of the US veto. Thus, its pursuit would not have resulted in a symbolic victory for them.
But that’s simply the last I heard - could have been other developments more recently.
