Obama VP text message: Who's signed up?

I did. I even set my message indicator to the loudest setting so I won’t discover I have a text message 10 hours after the fact.

I signed up for the text messages; I also signed up for the email version, which are forwarded to my cell phone.

I figured one of you guys would pass it along.

I signed up for it last night, wrongly expecting it would allow me to stop checking the news for the announcement.

I signed up for it the other day. Pretty cool way of doing the announcement IMO.

Senator Obama has again showed his disconnect with America. He plans to announce who he chooses by text message to his supporter. Not only that, but he demands that you register for the privilege of it. When I was a boy, the town crier announced these things to everyone.

If the call comes at 3 AM, I’ll be right here to answer. But will Senator Obama’s phone be charged?

I signed up as soon as I heard about it, although I’m much more likely to find out via email since I rarely pay attention to my cell phone.

The point of the text message isn’t to get the word out. It’s to find out which of his supporters are passionate enough to go out of their way to get updates on his campaign, as those persons are also good prospects for fund-raising.

They’re not hurting for fundraising. What it does is help to instill a sense of community and membership and “inside” status to supporters. The more involved you can get supporters to feel, the more loyal they tend to be.

You know darn well that being there to answer the phone on the wall does not mean that Sarah the Operator is on duty to patch it through on the party line, Mr. McCain…

I’m signed up as well. In fact, I even turned off my Diamondbacks text message updates temporarily because I kept jumping every time I got a text message thinking it was the running mate announcement.

I just signed up… all you have to do is text VP to 62262 and you receive a reply right away acknowledging your request. :slight_smile:

I signed up on the website to receive a txt message. I have to admit that I kind of always worry that if I sign up for something by text, then I’ll start getting text spam, kind of like email spam. So far it hasn’t happened in this case.
