obama wins nobel peace prize....what is the sound of a right-wing head exploding?

Perhaps it was given as an encouragement for him to wage peace. He talked about it when he ran. Now it is time for him do it. Peace talks with Afghanistan and Iran would be in order.

My 2 cents
Since Gore won for writing a fuzzy science book about global warming, does anyone even care who wins the NPP anymore?

Who told you the book was “fuzzy?” Rush Limbaugh?

Bound in the fur of the endangered Tasmanian ocelot. Well, it was endangered, extinct now of course…

No one dun told mee. Iz just lirned to reed last weeck and red teh hole boock meself.

Are you referring to Al Gore the scientist or Al Gore the venture capitalist who makes his money in green technology (the technology that takes money from taxpayers).

Personally, I haven’t cared since that murderous scumbag Kissinger won in '73.

This particular prize has been a political prop for years, the very last nails having been driven in by awarding Jimmy Carter a prize as a grand, “Fuck You, George Bush” gesture. It has been morally bankrupt since Kissinger got it. The Arafat award didn’t help, and Al Gore’s award pretty much landed on dead nerves.

In short, people can tell when a Peace Prize is a “real award” and when it is an overtly political gesture.

Some people care so little, they’re almost beside themselves, fraught with indifference.

Sarkozy’s statement. Of special note, this passage: “…Finally, it sets the seal on America’s return to the heart of all the world’s peoples…”

I think that reveals a lot. but more than affection, its about fear. All they could do was watch while the most powerful nation in human history was piloted by crazy people. I can understand it, but even though there was little I could do, I could do at least that much, I live here, I can vote. They couldn’t even do that, all they could do was hold their breath and pray to Whomsoever.

Freud said something about relief from anxiety being the pinnacle of human pleasure, next to bacon salt. (Paraphrase). So I can kinda see how much happier our Euro cousins are than even we.

I mean, lest we forget: freedom fries? Pouring French wine into sewers? All because they tried to stop us from doing something stupid.

the French had no problems with the US being the World’s policeman in the Persian gulf but when it affected their business interests in Iraq they suddently grew a consciounce.

We weren’t being the world’s policeman in Iraq; it was a war of conquest. And it didn’t require a conscience to oppose our conquest of Iraq; doing so was stupid, and that’s good enough reason to oppose it.

Who did we conquer? Iraq is an independent country with it’s own constitution and governing body. We removed Saddam which should have been done after he attacked Kuwait.

Yah, what is wrong with that Obama, he has been in office for nearly 10 months and hasn’t solved all the worlds problems yet! Why, by now, the world economy should be soaring, the Palestine/Israeli situation should be solved. Iran should be our best buddy, Syria would be democratic and the whole world should be singing Cum BY Yah.

Give the peace prize to G W Bush, he helped the peace process more by not being in office and did so much for world peace!!! Yes, this is scarcasm, but apparently the Nobel committee couldn’t find any one else more worthy?

Critize Obama for something he had nothing to do with, because some one nominated him, because he apparently came across as a cool headed person who sincerly wants world peace and is striving to that end inspite of his critics who want him to fail and look for things on which to critize him!

Garbage; they are a conquered territory of America. Saddam had nothing to do with us attacking; he could have abdicated or suicided and we would have found an excuse to attack.

And we killed an awful lot of Iraqis and inflicted a great deal of suffering on many others, not that the vast majority of Americans care in the slightest. It was an act of unmitigated evil on our part.

Especially since he will be unable to beat Marge Simpson

Independent and occupied by, what, a hundred thousand troops? If Iraq is lucky, some day it will be as “independent” as Japan today.

I was so outraged I made a personal commitment to turn as much French wine as possible into urine that eventually ended up in the sewers. Why can’t protests be fun and practical?

Bricker? Seriously. Henry Kissinger did quite a lot of things, but I don’t think you could really qualify any of them as working for peace.
Aung San Suu Kyi, contrawise, has devoted her life to a better Burma, but mostly really hasn’t accomplished much. I don’t know if she actually has any accomplishments Obama doesn’t have the equivalent of.

Bush 43 Not Expected To Issue Statement on Obama Peace Prize

Anonymous source, but probably the best we’ll get.
The former leader of the free world is indeed in hiding these days.

The reason so many have been killed is because the rest of the world sat on its ass. If we put 1 million troops, or 2 million, made up of all the nations of the world and they all contributed to the rebuilding effort no where near the amount of people would have been killed and Iraq wouldn’t be the shithole it is today. But we all want ‘peace’ which essentially means that we don’t give a rats ass on how the other poor bugger has to live as long as we don’t have to do anything.
