Obamamania – Does Obama knowingly hypnotize his followers?

Huh. I’m reading the above words, and–It’s weird…Individually the words are all words and would seem to make sense, but somehow they don’t–I mean, they just don’t
I can’t quite
Oh, crap I’m having a s I’m having a seiz I’m having a sagghagsdak;fsdalfhalsdsadflh

Hi, everyone! I know it’s bending the rules a little bit, but I just had to say to everyone, that it’s really important that we all donate whatever we can to the Conservative Weekly Voice of Las Vegas, the Penny Press! Whatever you can spare, donate it to the Conservative Weekly Voice of Las Vegas, the Penny Press! Personally, I have some mutual funds that haven’t exactly been doing all that well lately anyhow, so I’m liquidating them–And that “three to six months salary in a savings account”–it’s not like I really NEED that money. Ooh–and I can max out all my credit cards!

Remember, everyone: Donate to the Conservative Weekly Voice of Las Vegas, the Penny Press! It’s really, really, REALLY important!

I think you mean “Kwanzaa Haderach”

Speaking as the Doper Most Likely to Make Nasty References to Obama Followers as a Cult[sup]TM[/sup], I gotta say this doesn’t sound any different from any other persuasive speaker.

Of course, I might have been hypnotized into typing that.

Regards,
Shodan

Satans’ own minion and allround entertainer Derren Brown uses these techniques ( and others ) a lot in his acts. The best thing is that he then shows you how he did it and why it worked!

You need to sit through the whole dvd of Derren Brown ’ Something Wicked This Way Comes ’ to see it in action.

His book is very funny too. He explains a lot about how he uses these techniques to manipulate people on stage. He is a rabid aethiest, non - spritualist, & hates politicians - because he can see the techniques they ALL use whilst trying to convince us of thier tallent.

All in - a very entertaining book and a rather clever dood.

It gets worse than mass hypnosis.

George W. Bush has been blinking Morse code messages to his co-conspirators during supposedly innocent speeches. This stuff would be all over the Internet except sombody in power must have deleted the links.

I’ll be hiding under the bed until the election is over. :frowning:

Hypnosis? Oh my!

Will a tinfoil hat help?

I recall when Reagan, as POTUS, would give a speech on TV, it would start with the whole Oval Office in the field of view, and then the camera would slowly, very slowly, pan in until Reagan’s talking head was the only thing visible. (Did he once play Svengali in a movie or something?) That’s the nearest thing to a hypnotic technique I’ve ever seen from a pol. Nothing in Obama’s repertoire comes close. For that matter, nothing I’ve seen since Reagan comes close.

I’m more inclined to believe George W. Bush used these methods rather than Obama.
If not then I have absolutely no other explanation on how he got into the White House.
.
.
Twice.

I can think of at least two alternative explanations

(1) Vote fraud*
(2) The Dems nominating uninspiring stiffs

*Not saying this is necessarily how he did get elected; just that it’s more plausible than mass hypnosis (or unicorn horn, for that matter)

Poe’s Law says it is impossible to craft a parody of Fundamentalism that is clearly distinguishable from the real thing.

Perhaps we need an Obama-hate-memes corollary.

This falls under the same banner as Obama is the anti-Christ, he’s a Muslim, he’s a Manchurian candidate socialist and extremist ad nauseum.

So much crap like this get virally spread about Obama it is quite amazing seeing the level of panic and desperation on the right at the prospect of his election.

Are there threshold levels of basic credulity for starting threads on this forum? I’d expect to see this on freepers.

  1. I think the word you mean is “credibility.”

  2. In either case, no.

Good grief.

Obama is a brilliant man and an engaging speaker. People are hungry for charisma in a leader, and when it’s combined with a force of intellect and reason, it attracts support. There’s no need to assume that some mysterious power is at work.

The only thing that’s unusual about this thesis is seeing its particular brand of nonsense here, specifically.

I don’t actually watch the candidates, aside from clips on the Daily Show. Couldn’t say why, but I just have an aversion to actually watching speeches/debates.

I have read the transcripts of his speeches and debates, checked out his website, followed the media’s coverage (primarily through this board), and so on, but I really don’t like watching video of politicians. I still support him wholeheartedly.

Maybe he’s fnord put subliminal messages into the transcripts?

No, I meant credulity as stated; as in, the OP poster is far too credulous in thinking this is a legitimate topic of substantive merit to be debated.

Barack Obama is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.

No, no, the Manchurian Candidate would be the one who has been a POW.

I saw a speech yesterday. I must kill the queen. I must kill the queen.
Call Drebin we are in trouble.

Your premise is faulty:

Editor of Harvard Law Review
Law degree
Professor of Constitutional law
State Senator
United States Senator

I’d like to see a more impressive list of achievements, say, from McCain or Palin?

Oops, I left out bestselling author.

You also left out community organizer and practicing civil rights attorney.
