Why, oh why, did I open this thread? I could have remained blissfully unaware, but noooo…
… and the portions are so small!
Part of it may be that at least in “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” the Pevensies are the only humans IN Narnia. Although I suppose it would be possible to write about Peter or Edmund getting some beaver.
…I’d like to apologize for the above, by the way.
Well, the Narnia fanfic author’s options are pretty much limited to incest and bestiality. I’m really not sure why a person would object to there being incest in Narnia fanfiction so much as to there being Narnia fanfiction at all.
Fanfiction doesn’t necessarily include sexual relations. There just…happens to be a rather…high correlation.
Look, you’d better not be opening up that “Does 0.99999999… really equal 1?” debate again! ![]()
As a sidenote, in a book I saw to-day, CS Lewis made extremely racist comments-no, I don’t mean the whole Calormene thing but in one of his letters he said to the effect that Chinese people were “only human in form”.
I think there are more options than incest and, uh, conventional bestiality. How about those parties that Bacchus throws? Have some more wine, Susan dear. No, don’t worry about Peter; the Naiads will take good care of him.
So. Links?

Excuse me, but I don’t believe this for a second. I’ve never seen anything remotely like this in any Lewis book. I just Googled on “C. S. Lewis”, “Chinese”, and “only human in form” and the only place those three phrases appear on the Internet are in your post. Please tell us what book you saw this in. I have all of Lewis’s books in my apartment and I will be glad to look up this supposed quotation if you tell me what book it’s in.
Slash fic? It’s canon…
“How would you like to lie awake listening for Uncle Andrew’s step to come creeping along the passage to your room?”
I don’t think it’s actually bestiality if the beasts in question are sapient.
I don’t think he was perfect, but I don’t believe things without citations. What book?
This is pretty much it. Narnia is far from being the only fandom with a high proportion of incest fic. In ‘Harry Potter’ fandom it’s called ‘twincest’ and features the Weasley twins, and in’ Supernatural’ fandom it’s called ‘wincest’ and features the Winchester brothers. There are others. This trope is common in canon in a lot of anime fandoms. (For example, Tenchi Muyo. Aeka was engaged to her half-brother). Not going to TVTropes to check, but they almost certainly have an entry for it.
Fanfiction is definitely NOT about creating works the original creator would approve of. For many fans, it’s about exploring concepts and directions the original didn’t go in.
This book in the afterword “Why Would Anyone Hate Narnia”.
Still interspecies.
Can you summarize what evidence is presented in that afterword? What did they say? I mean, what are their sources?
Yeah, but at least they could consent. And Reepicheep needed a little pussy.
I think CS Lewis would think Uncle Screwtape was writing a letter of praise to Nephew Wormwood at doing such a bang-up job of corrupting human souls.
Internet rule 34.
He was quoting a collection of CS Lewis’ letters. Of course letters often tended to be hyperbolic-see HP Lovecraft’s writings on race for example
In case anyone thinks this is a recent trend, well do I recall the incest ‘Simon and Simon’ fanfic back in the 80s. (Before the advent of fanfiction on the internet, we had print fanfic fanzines. There were a lot of them. And rule 34, even though no one had invented it yet, pretty much still applied…)
Heck, it wouldn’t surprise me much to find out some enterprising Victorian fan had written some Sherlock/Mycroft fic back in the day.
