When I was a kid, DEVO was one of my favorite groups. I have been trying for years, in futility, to find a movie they made in conjunction with the album, Q: Are we not men? A: We are DEVO!
I remember the film quite well. It was at least an hour long, and featured a bunch of bizarre characters, settings and skits to the music of the above album. It’s strange campiness only made it all the more endearing. The movie is NOT listed in the IMDB, but is mentioned in passing. I believe the film is called, “The Truth About Devolution”
Does anyone else remember this bizarre yet amusing film?
You may recall infamous tunes such as “Jocko Homo,” “Mongoloid,” “Satisfaction,” “Too Much Paranoias,” and so on. BTW, this was before “Whip It” came out, and they were not yet wearing the “flowerpot helmets”
And who can forget “Booji Boy?”
Don’t be such a Blockhead - go to Club Devo and ask them where to get a copy!
I do remember seeing it, but only vaguely - forgive me, I was in college when Devo first started to hit it big, so I’m old and my memory is…oh, what’s the word? Starts with “f”. Fig leaf, fluorescent, fjord…my memory is fjord? No, that can’t be right. Anyway, weren’t there people wrapped in cellophane wearing swim goggles writhing on a conference table? I also remember a general - and a woman in a baby mask being spanked by a guy in a Nixon mask - or was it the other way around?
Now I’ve got an Uncontrollable Urge to go listen to some music.
